Neighbor's son is wrestling. Worked his ass off cutting firewood this summer to afford trip from Montana. I'm one of his customers. If you met him, I think "scrub" would be one of the last terms in your mind.
Sorry, Im a former/current scrub myself. Perhaps I'm too comfortable with the term. I'll consider your feelings next time. I'm not really a HS wrestling fan so Im still trying to learn how to talk about HS kids.

BTW, Busiello gets a really tough R of 32 opponent, so I have to retract my statement.

My son wrestled the Super 32 as well and while he was clearly a long shot and probably one of the least skilled wrestlers there, he was also far from a scrub and was a far above average high school wrestler. Yeah, at many duals tournaments and some open tournaments you're going to find lots of "scrubs" or "fish" (as we called them when I wrestled), you won't find many or any at the Super 32.

You're right. You have to have a pretty good résumé to wrestle at S32.

Cold Smoke, please inform us as to his results. Hope he does well.

Thanks

Happy to do it. Sterling is a returning MT champ at 120, wresting 126 at S32. Won first round 5-0. Lost in next round to a kid from PA 11-4. PA kid must be tough, as he lost by only one point to Renteria from CA in next round. All I know.

The kid he lost to was Killian Delaney, PA AAA finalist at 113 (lost by 1 pt to Pitt commit Ryan Sullivan), and was an NHSCA finalist. Willie picked him to finish 6th at S32. Yeah, he's pretty good.

Busiello wins 6-4 over Daniel Pucino (Illinois) in R32. Busiello jumped out to a 5-0 lead but Pucino almost came back on him. Busiello seemed a little sloppy/gassed. May be partially due to having to wrestle with a nose plug and eventually a head wrap. Don't know anything about the other kid so credit to him wrestling hard

Pucino finished 3rd in Illinois 3A at 132 last year. Tough kid.

Chlebove injured his elbow and will forfeit out. Sounds pretty serious -- tweets like this aren't good news.

Dang--Busiello's remarkable run at S32 comes to a setback. Got hurt, still almost fought to a win (that cradle at the end of 2 could have sealed it with some more time). Lost 8-5

Busiello won't get #7, loses 8-5 to Blair's Shayne Van Ness.

He gave up his leg in neutral easily and paid for that twice. Managed to get a reversal and some back points late in the second to tie it 4-4. Then got taken down in the third and couldn't scramble his way out of it. My overall sense is that he likes to try complicated things in matches that are typically only going to work against lesser competition. Style points don't carry over when you don't get your hand raised.
