There is reaction time in all positions except the rear- standing position. This is one of the biggest misconceptions in college wrestling.
Well the Ref did force Griffith to take him down twice. Was a clear TD on initial effort (had AM's hips completely covered).

This is the kind of thing I was thinking of when I talked about Iowa not wrestling up to its seed. Marinelli looked like a sure champ with Lewis injured. Unless it will make the difference between Iowa and PSU, I hope he's able to come back strong through wrestlebacks.

Yep. There was no need to risk back points. Just give up the TD and win the match. Star wasn't about to get bonus, so it didn't matter. More situational awareness than 'Sheed in a similar situation.
Technically Kemerrer didn't lose because there never was a Kemerrer entered in the tournament even, at least I've never heard of him.
