"Beard, sigh. Can’t wait until these kids get the experience they need. "

He doesn't get experienced quick, you never know, AB @ 197 sometime in next couple years.

Jeff just said that Kerk was a "really good bottom wrestler." Apparently he missed the Cassioppi match.

Kerk put up a game fight but needs to bulk up to compete with Steveson (if that's even possible, LOL). Kerk is just as quick, but Steveson is so powerful there was little Kerk could do. Nice to see him get a TD at the end anyway. Has anyone else gotten a TD against Steveson (either in this tourney or all year, really)?

Kerk gets to a leg, finally, but Gable stuffs it and goes behind. Then lets him up and gets a double. Now releases again, posed for a late TD for the major, but Kerk gets to the leg and quickly converts, which will keep this to a decision. 9-4. Better looking than at the B1Gs but still tentative.

I think Kerks neutral game may have prompted GS to ride him in the first. Who else has he rode like that this year. Parris maybe?

GS didn't want to play catch and release like he does with others.

Really surprised by Beard. He had nothing in that match against a very beatable opponent. Completely spent and on his heels from the opening whistle. He'll think about this opportunity for a long time.
Almost like making weight 2 days straight was an issue? Like you say, he had almost nothing right from the start; just very flat.

I think so too. With 15-20 extra pounds and another year in the room, he's going to be very, very hard to beat.
Talk about Steveson going MMA, but if he doesn‘t, I don’t see how he can be anything But a strong favorite next year.
I try to be a realist.

That's what I thought too. He knows Kerk isn't 100% and he didn't want to mess with him any more than he had to on his feet. A little more weight and a chance to get some conditioning in and Kerk will be much tougher.

Beard fresh is about as good on his feet as any of them, and might beat ayone, and certainly has improved his conditioning, but he still has the worst stamina of any of the good 197ers, and its not close.
Just not enough stamina for a grueling tournament.
He should lift, lift, and run, run, run, run.
Doggone.
