At long last, the annual previews and predictions that are 100% guaranteed to be wrong – or your money back!

As usual, this will be many posts:
- An overview of the field
- One post per weight, to keep posts shorter and for easier replies
- I’ll (badly) predict the finals for each weight; after that is gravy

Also a caution I wish weren’t necessary: please do not pollute this thread with transfers, HS/youth recruiting, Hartman, and the like. I’m considering nuking the entire thread into orbit. Stick to the wrestling and everyone will be happy.

2 – Reinsel
3 – Bollman
4 – Kolb
5 – Barvitskie

Others – top half:
Alan Alexander, SE-6, Pope John Paul II SR, 23-9, S6

Others – bottom half:
Luke Moore, SW-3, Chestnut Ridge SR, 36-8, S7

MacKay vs Garcia should be one of the best finals this year … but this would’ve been Levi’s weight, and Southern Columbia JR Wes Barnes (4th at 189 last year) is injured and missed the postseason.

Prediction:
1 – MacKay
2 – Garcia
3 – Schneider

AA 172 seeds:
1 – Rune Lawrence, SW-1, Frazier SO, 33-3, S1

Others – top half:
Ty Csencsits, SE-2, Saucon Valley SR, 29-8, S8

Others – bottom half: (none)

Southern Columbia’s Gavin Garcia would’ve been here, until he enrolled early at Kent State for football. Without him, this is a weak weight.

Prediction:
1 – Karpinski
2 – Cory
3 – Cutchember
4 – Scheib

AA 215 seeds:
1 – Dayton Pitzer, SW-1, Mount Pleasant SR, 41-0, S1-S1 (Pitt)

Others – bottom half:
Damon Backes, NE-2, Mount Carmel SR, 29-4

Pitzer has only seen the 2nd period 3x all year. He will pin his way thru Hershey (!) and reach 100 career falls (!!) – despite missing an entire year to injury (!!!).

Prediction:

4 – Mahaffey

Others – bottom half:
Leo Muzika, SE-2, Faith Christian SR, 31-10

Robell’s weight to lose. Johnson is a serious threat if his tank holds up – he was a 2021 Fargo double AA (FR 4th, Greco 2nd) at 220 as an incoming freshman.

Prediction:
1 – Robell
2 – Johnson
3 – Ulrich
4 – Muzika
5 – Watkins

Others – bottom half:
Carson Wagner, NE-4, Northampton JR, 25-7, S6-S5
Nico Tocci, SC-2, Warwick SR, 38-3 (Air Force)
Darius McMillon, SW-2, Peters Township FR, 29-3

This is the craziest weight at states this year, with 3 returning state finalists and 7 returning medalists. Then add top freshman Parkins (2nd at Beast of the East), Tocci (beat Williams at districts), and McMillon (brother of state finalist Donovan, now Florida safety).

Going with Jacaruso, who is notoriously difficult to score upon and beat NJ state champ Anthony Knox (the Bassett-slayer).

Our guy: Nasdeo has a brutal draw – Wagner is a long-time nemesis, then Tocci, then Jacaruso.

Prediction:
1 – Jacaruso
2 – Williams

1 – Quinn Collins, SE-1, Central Bucks East SR, 39-1, S6
2 – Sonny Sasso, NE-1, Nazareth JR, 42-0, S7
3 – Mac Stout, SW-1, Mount Lebanon SR, 38-0, S2 (Pitt)
4 – John Miller, SC-1, Exeter SR, 41-2
5 – Trey Shoemaker, Mifflin County SR, 36-4

Others – top half: (none)

Others – bottom half: (none)

Paper-thin weight after the top 4 guys. Sasso and Stout are the best 2, but will face each other in the semis due to Stout’s lack of prestige points (missed the postseason due to injury last year) – or if you prefer, due to Sasso not finishing top 6. Collins is also nationally ranked. Miller placed at Super 32.

Prediction:
1 – Stout
2 – Collins
3 – Sasso
4 – Miller

AAA 215 seeds:
1 – Carl DiGiorgio, SE-1, Central Bucks West SR, 33-2, S5
2 – Brian Finnerty, SW-1, Thomas Jefferson SR, 40-1 (Kent State)
3 – Chase Levey, NE-1, Nazareth SR, 39-4
4 – Samuel Rodriguez, SC-1, Gettysburg SR, 35-2
5 – Nick Pavlechko, NW-1, State College SO, 28-3 (M2 trainee)

Others – top half:
Cole Weightman, SW-2, Belle Vernon SR, 9-2, S6-S8 (IUP FB)

Others – bottom half: (none)

Pavlechko won Escape the Rock, beating DiGiorgio 8-2 along the way. His losses were to Pitzer, Johnson, and Seminary's Darrah.

Prediction:
1 – Pavlechko
2 – Finnerty
3 – DiGiorgio
4 – Levey

AAA 285 seeds:
1 – Sean Kinney, NE-1, Nazareth SO, 36-2, S2
2 – Billy McChesney, SW-1, Greensburg Salem SR, 34-0, S7-S4 (Columbia)
3 – Julian Laventure, SE-1, Upper Darby SR, 36-1, S6 (CUP FB)
4 – Trevor Gallagher, SC-1, Gettysburg SR, 39-5 (Lebanon Valley FB)
5 – Charles Crews, NW-1, Williamsport SR, 37-6 (Bloomsburg FB)

Others – top half:
Noah Tustin, SW-2, Waynesburg SR, 39-13, S6 (Clarion)

Others – bottom half:
Matthew Cruise, NE-2, Easton SR, 34-6, S5 (Penn)
Oliver BIllotte, NW-2, Clearfield SR, 29-3, S8 (Kent State FB)

Solid weight behind a clear top 3. Look for Crews to make noise in his first trip to states – he beat Gallagher, majored Tustin, beat Billotte 3x, and pinned Birchmeier.

Prediction:
1 – Kinney
2 – Cruise
3 – McChesney
4 – Crews
5 – Billotte

That was a great read!! Just a quick thought on AA 106. I do not see Gill as the "overwhelming favorite". First off it is a travesty him and Smith is a quarterfinals match! They had a very close match earlier this year which from what I remember I thought Smith looked better even though he lost. I am picking Seidel in the finals over Gill(as long as Gill beats Smith). His top game is elite with his tilts and that will be the difference in the match. That is my prediction.

Great stuff Jefe, appreciate the time put in.
Hopefully someone is gonna post our M2 and recruit‘s results. We actually used to have a (pinned?) thread fo just that.

Seidel is a very good prospect. He beat Smith by a similar score. Maybe it turns out this way. I still think Gill is a big favorite, but far stranger things happen in Hershey.

106 is often hard to predict because there are so many freshmen. And AA weights are often hard to predict because the talent is thinner and they don't get invited to better tournaments.

Put that together and predicting AA 106 is usually like spitting into the wind.
