2024 Big Ten Tournament match, PBP, and discussion thread

I can't say enough good things about Kasak. He has been amazing, and nothing would shock me in two weeks. He is strong and aggressive for a true freshman. I can't wait to see how this all works out next year!

He’s aggressive, confident, and has been a more than able replacement after Shayne’s surgery.

I wonder, if Beau Bartlett leaves after this year, does Tyler return to 141, or does he RS?

I suspect that Beau most certainly is returning, so your question is purely a hypothetical one, but I don't think Kasak looks small at all at 149 and I'd be surprised to see him working back down to 141.

How does Penn State continuously come back from Iowa losses with wins later in the year (when it matters most)? It's hard to figure out, since the Iowa message board has made it abundantly clear that Cael and company cannot coach, while the Brands brothers are amazing coaches. Cael can only recruit. Weird.

Iowa under Brands is over, right? Like we can call it? Sure, there’s that title run, but boy did they need our team sort of flailing to get there.

If it means anything, the announcer referred to him as a Junior when the wrestlers were introduced.

I wasn’t on here earlier this morning so I guess I missed out on the predictable jerks trashing Carter for saying something on Twitter that hurt their feelings.

Pay no mind to how much he’s hurting having to give up on A B1G Title and possible Hodge Trophy when he felt he could go.

JMO but cooler heads will prevail, Carter will wrestle and he’ll win his 4th Title. I don’t see him returning next year as winning 5 is more about what we want not necessarily what he wants.

Iowa was officially eliminated a few minutes ago. Michigan won't be eliminated until finals.

From Jeff Byers 5 minutes ago..."Carter Starocci will receive the at large bid for nationals. Now, we need to make sure that he uses it."

There is where it's at. Which is in doubt.

I'm just not seeing it this way. I think he is what he is. I actually thing he is wrestling pretty well this weekend.
Tend to agree with this. I really didn't see much of Nageo before this season, other than his matches against RBY. So my baseline is mostly the 2023-24 season, which indicates that Nageo is a good wrestler but has some limitations/weaknesses. His B1G tourney has been pretty much in line with that.

Van Dee. After 2 challenges that took wins away from Teske. The first at the end of regulation and the second in DV.
The Turley-Sparks consolation bout was also filled with challenges that took way too long to sort out. The scoring was changed 2 or 3 times, after a lengthy delay each time. Turley ended up winning 10-9.

I know this is tongue in cheek, however, you haven’t been to GIA lately!!!! They are about to send the Brands brothers down the river!!! 😂😂

The challenges have gotten out of hand during this tournament. It feels like every match is being delayed. (I know that is an exaggeration, but, that is how it feels)

And all teams except PSU and Mich are mathematically eliminated from 1st place.

Who questioned that it is in doubt? Obviously, we are all concerned, and it doesn't seem like any of us actually know what is going to happen. Hell, Cael admitted that Carter wasn't happy with him. The situation is a bummer. I'm just going to hope that it works out well for all involved.

I think that we know that Carter can be impulsive with some of his actions and comments. That’s one of the things that I like about him, and it makes him entertaining.

In my opinion, we will see him lace them up in two weeks.

isn't he going for his 4th NCAA title? Why would he cut off his nose....etc.

He's not happy with cael...but we have a coach for a reason and if he felt Carter would be better off waiting two weeks, it's his decision.

When they get back, hopefully they'll sit down and work this out. Would Carter rather go out as a 4 time champ or a guy who walked away from his team?

Penn State will win away win natty 11 in 13 years. No idea why Starocci’s decision in 2 weeks is a top 50 concern.

Literally in a .000001% position to have a “love to have you but only if you’re all in with us” attitude that basically no fanbase in any sport ever gets to have. I imagine the coaching staff is approaching it similarly.

Anyways, this is the best time in history to be a Penn State wrestling fan. Enjoy it as I do.

It's like clockwork. Sun rises in the east. Snow in PA in March. Daylight savings time. Post season wrestling is here.

In the fall it will be pulling out every magical scenario, including multiple acts of God and acts of Congress, on how Iowa will beat PSU.
