2024 National Duals

Iowa is 1-1 today and Wisconsin is 2-0. Iowa can force a 3-way tie for 1st in the pool if they beat Wisconsin. The dual will start at 138 which puts the 215 match basically dead center of the dual. So it would seem that Iowa is more likely to send Ross versus Mirasola

My plan for His Caelness - set up a regular charter flight to scope out AWA talent

Ross is a physical specimen and he's far along technically being a Sebolt trained kid, good win by Connor. I think Ross is definitely bigger than him also (wrestled 220 in HS, whereas Connor was 195 and made 189)

Sebolt deserves more credit, he is the only club in Iowa pumping out D1 guys. Is he old school and enjoys grinding his kids? Absolutely, but his club results speak for themselves.

Is it fair to say we should expect Connor to beat Ross?
I think I'd be more impressed if Cole was the one to beat him.

I didn’t think the match with Connor was going to be close. I believed Connor was on another level and was going to win handily. I mean he is the guy who took down Aaron Brooks I think it’s fair to expect.

Here’s a video highlight of the match. Looks to me like when Connor scored, he was timing up Ross’ lead leg to where it had the most weight on it and he wouldn’t be able to squirt away. Each time he did that, he scored seemingly with minimal-moderate effort. Great match by the both of them

The further away from the Dan Gable era, the more Hawk fans savor moral victories. It's been a fascinating phenomena to watch unfold through the years..
I was thinking the same thing. As a collective they even understand a heroic effort at nationals this year gives them a shot at second place.

Junior Men’s FS:
PA topped Illinois 37-28, then lost to Ohio 39-24. PA had a forfeit at 215 for some reason and otherwise scored a bunch of bonus points. FWIW, Blaze wrestled Seidel at 132 in the Ohio dual and won by 10-0 TF. They’re currently wrestling Minnesota Blue for 3rd.

Junior Women’s GR:
PA lost to California Red 43-26 and lost to Idaho 46-26. They’re wrestling Virginia for 13th right now.

16U Women’s GR:
PA beat Texas Red 56-9, Texas Blue 51-20 and Michigan 61-6 to win Pool A. They beat Kansas 57-9 in their first match of the Gold/Silver bracket. They’re wrestling Florida right now in their second match. They’ll then wrestle California for a shot at the finals.

14U Women’s GR:
PA Blue beat New York 59-18, had a bye and then beat Missouri 56-18 to win Pool B. So far in the Gold/Silver bracket, they’ve beaten Kansas 51-23 and Ohio 68-11. They’re wrestling California for a spot in the finals right now.

The 215 who forfeited was Jason Singer, S4 from Faith Christian. Not sure why -- he teched his IL opponent. Not that it mattered to the team result, and Singer was unlikely to beat Shulaw.

The other noteworthy match was OH 3x state champ Jaxon Joy beating Maddox Shaw 6-6 on criteria. Joy is a SR headed to Cornell.

Junior Men’s FS:
PA knocked off Minnesota Blue 39-25 for 3rd and Wisconsin won the title over Ohio Boue with a walk off pin by Kellen Wolbert.

Junior Women’s GR:
PA takes 14th after a 39-33 loss to Virginia.

Joy vs Shaw was a great match.

i don't understand the reason to belittle Dreshaun (or hawk fans) in this thread. it was a very game performance by Dreshaun, who still has two years of hs left.
I was actually impressed by Deshaun and don't see any negative comments toward Ross after the bout. Where are they? Deshaun looks like the real deal and has jumped as level as a soph.

you were douchie. (Additional comment removed by Moderator)
I'm not getting this. Who is pissing on Dreshaun Ross today? Are you fighting yesterday's battle? I think everyone was impressed by Mr Ross today. I don't think anyone is dancing because he lost 6-4. Why are you doing this?

Edit to add that Ross shut Bronson down today. It was quite apparent that Ross is the real deal and Bronson's lack of activity in this thread speaks volumes.

14U Women’s GR:
PA Blue beats California 48-26 then tops Washington 47-23 for the title. That makes two straight years of PA winning the 14U Greco title.

16U Women’s GR:
PA beats Florida 49-17 then beats California 38-32. They went on to beat Ohio 53-18 to win the 16U Greco title.
