49ers cut LB Reuben Foster after arrest on domestic violence charge in Florida

Meanwhile, a larger (or maybe just louder) segment of our society deems everyone who is accused as guilty. How about we just let him be suspended by the NFL and go through the legal process?

Bullshit. What people want and, what this whole #metoo movement is about, is that people want anyone in a position of authority who is informed of a case of sexual abuse or rape to take the claim seriously and investigate it seriously.

So many strawmen, in so little time. I'll try tho:

Ive watched the Godfather way more than once, don't see any relevance honestly
I don't work in insurance, so no idea
It won't be on my conscience either way- if he's such a terrible person she should stop hanging out with him as well.
What will be on yours if the charges are dropped? Or if the girl kills Foster?
My brakes are good and I always wear a seatbelt. Don't own a gun and don't hunt

Appreciate your concern
So the fact is, you have never spoken directly to an abuser about his abuse, nor worked with him to overcome his behavior, nor succeeded at it, nor failed at it. I am also guessing that you never had someone close to you who was shot to death by her husband 2 years after she divorced him, either. I have all of those experiences, and more.

You do not know what the hell you are talking about. There is danger here, and the only good thing is that he will apparently not play until it is sorted out. You act like playing in the NFL is a RIGHT. It is not. It is a privilege. Ask Kaepernick.

The guy was guilty as sin. He was lucky to have a former public defender (who didn't actually try cases by the way) who was appointed by Governor Brown (no friend to public safety) as the Judge. She shocked everyone by dismissing the charges against him...

I'm sorry to hear about your personal experience, but its patently unfair to extrapolate that to say Reuben Foster is going to murder this woman.

Agree on the 'until it is sorted out' part, that's what I've been saying

That isn't the reason why Kap is still unemployed. This is:

I suggest, the next time you are up for a job, have someone close to you post a photo on social media depicting the company's owner as a slave owner and see if you get the job.
So that it is clear, you are ok with owners who punish players who hang out with people who insult owners, but not ok with owners who who punish players who hang out with women who falsely accuse them of felonies. Got it.

Not patently unfair. Wise. Safe. Smart. If he cannot even stay away from someone who accuses him of felonies, then he cannot act in his own self interest. If he cannot act in his own self-interest, cannot imagine why they want him associated with their team.

He was in the team hotel- maybe you should ask yourself why she was there

She was there because he wanted her to be there. For the record I would not have her on my NFL team either, but you do not get to blame her for his choices. He could have had her removed at any time.

"punish"? In the case of Kap, he not only wouldn't separate himself from that post but has made several more statements that support it. In the case of Rueben, he is accused of doing something. That thing may be true or untrue. If that was his action, so be it. Ban the guy. If not, you are weaponizing an accusation if it is true or not true. So any pro-player can simply be extorted. A woman can call a guy and say "you know, you hit me the other day.....so, I am going to call the police tomorrow, unless, of course, if you make it worth my while to not make the call." Not a world I want to have my kids live in.

LOL. They can do that now. The only thing which stops them is the good sense of the player not to be around such persons. Reuben lacks that good sense. Any man faces that potential problem. Any woman does, too. If you are worried about your kids maybe teaching them about how to pick their friends would be a more appropriate safeguard.

I don't think you have to worry about your kids living in your fantasy world. Rueben had a failed drug test at the combine, arrested twice, possession of illegal firearm, possession of weed, two charges of domestic violence from the same woman. Poor guy is getting railroaded.

I don't know anything about Rueben and have no knowledge of those events. I am talking about the thousands of "Ruebens" out there, metaphorically. I took great pains to make sure it could not be mistaken. I am not defending Rueben. He could very well be guilty as sin. But I think he deserves due process. In the case, the NFL has it correct....suspend the guy until due process has been completed.

I believe he may have a child with this woman, but could be wrong on that. Regardless, suspending they guy until the facts come in is appropriate.

So? Don't care if he has nine kids with her, 2 dogs and a fish. He has a decent income and can arrange for intermediaries to shuttle the kids back and forth. This is not a problem for an NFL player, certainly not like it would be for a working stiff. He cannot be around her. Really, how hard is that?

Do the 49ers have it correct?

For an attorney, your thought process on this is naive and simplistic.

Kids have events, birthdays, holidays. Holidays are the worst. My wife's practice(s) go nuts from mid-november to mid-january. More often than not, a wife will not drop off the kids when she was supposed to. If someone goes to her house, she calls the police and says she is being harassed. If she doesn't let them go at the designated time, the other party's only recourse is to call the police. The police do nothing but make sure nobody is hurt and document the situation. A hearing is then set, which is typically a week to several weeks later. Of course, that is after the holiday/birthday/whatever. Then, when you finally get in front of a judge, he or she will tell the offending party to "knock it off". And that is the end of it....until the next event, where you go through the same process...again. Typically, the biggest ass hole wins. In many cases, it is the woman who wants the man out of her life because she has a new relationship. (especially if she is getting a big child support and alimony check). Then, we complain because the father is not being a father and interacting with his child.

If you assume the woman is always correct, you are part of the problem and not the solution. Many men feel emasculated and go into some kind of depression and/or rage. That rage ends up with a suicide or some kind of physical abuse. By playing into that, you feed the cycle. Think about it.....The blood is on your hands.

Most civilizations have been believers in the presumption of innocence since well before 2016
The presumption of innocence is in place solely for the administration of criminal trials. It does not apply in civil trials and it certainly does not apply in hiring situations.

Glad to hear you understand that concept at least

okay if she was there because he wanted her there, I'll have to say,the first time she was a victim, the next time she is a willing participant.

Right, so the law is that if you go around a known abuser, he gets to beat you up without consequence. Great.

as I said, once you are a victim, and if you go back, you are a participant. You said, 'he wanted her there', my question is, why would she go? the answer is, Just dont go. The law is the law, but why put yourself in that position?

Is that from the book;
Stupid Shit that Sluggo Says?
if a guy beats on a women, the guy is wrong. The women should understand that if she goes back, she is going to get beat on again. I know she should be able to go back and not worry, but that's not reality. So why would she go back? He was at the hotel, he, as Demlion says, asked her to come, so why would she go? You have to know what is going to happen. Just dont go.
it aint stupid at all. Remove yourself from the situation.

I would not hire her, either, but that changes NOTHING about how despicable the abuser is. The abuser is the topic here. It is a fairly common thing for abusers to try and make the same switch you attempted. It will always piss some people off. Just sayin.

Hey - didn’t Washington just sign this guy?
yes...washington claimed him and the NFL put him on their "exempt" list. So he can't play until the NFL clears him. Washington gets his rights, owes him nothing, and if he's guilty he'll get cut. If he's innocent, they'll play him once cleared.

Nobody is excusing him or justifying him. Washington is just making a no-cost move to get his rights with no real risk (other than people claiming moral indignation and jumping to conclusions).

The abuser is dispictable no doubt. So the question is, why did she go back??
Once you are are victim, twice you are a participant just don’t go back!!

Agree...i..just because one party did something wrong, doesn't make the other party right.

Repeating the same dumb comment over and over again doesn't make it any less dumb. You know nothing about this woman, her life, their relationship or, what he may have said or promised her.

it isn't a dumb comment, what's dumb is a women that's goes back to someone that is beating on her. Just don't go.

Yes, and it will be up to the commissioner to decide if he plays. The commissioner, IMHO decides these things arbitrarily with no consistent guidelines. I bet he will be cleared quickly and allowed to play, in contrast to Zeke Elliot because why not be hypocritical as possible.

Not the question . Question is about him. Nobody but him is associating her with his brand.

Nobody but the skins want him associated with their brand. Same stupidity.

Skins think they can get away with it (he will help them win, and Skins fans won't be mad at the team for taking him) and I suspect they are right.

Huh? So explain to me why see went to the hotel.

Dont know. Dont care. So if she sh ok s up, does he get the right to abuse her? No? Then who cares? Maybe she is dumb. But. This. Is. About. Her? No, it's about him.

It is funny how you believe he should choose his aquaintances better... but not her.

He is the one the Redskins chose not her. I know it makes you guys feel better to blame the victim, but that's what abusers do, too. Should think that would give you pause.
