Fellow Idahoan and descendant of refugees here (grandparents). Stories like this kill my cynicism. Good on her for having the strength and resilience to grab The American Dream by the balls and hopefully go to college. And good on her coaches for inspiring a path out of poverty.
P.s. son’s good friend just won the state championship for middle school heavies. I doubt Idaho champ = PSU material but I’ve been planting PSU seeds just in case.

Great story! It just reminds me once again what a huge blessing it is to be born and live in America. Sooooo much of the world's people live in very tough environments that I cannot even fathom. I try to always be grateful and often thank God for the "little" blessings of having food to eat, clean water to drink, clothes to wear, a roof over my head, etc.
