It's hard to imagine being a highschool sectional champ or States podium guy whole knowing you will never have a shot at wrestling for the blue and white in a dual. It is that cannon fodder that helps iron sharpen iron daily in the room as a member of the best wresting machine in the nation over the past decade.
I have wondered given that level of commitment what the turnover looks like. These kids sweat and train and pound it on the mat for hours each day, staying up late to keep up with their studies only to know they are a small but important peice in Cael's intricate puzzle that delivers champions.
Looking at this year's roster I have a mostly accurate list of underclassmen that have seemingly disappeared from last year. Only Mason Manville has a rather obvious explanation and there are a few head scratchers amongst the inbound freshman that announced their commitment. Maybe a few newbies have chose to grey shirt or move on once the reality of the commitment sunk in.
My hat is off to all who sacrified over the years.
