just came across his match against Zain on youtube from last year... that kid is unbelievable... so he basically turned pro already in 10th or 11th grade?
He certainly did. And you're very welcome and certainly no problem whatsoever. As Bader from Flo mentioned... Aaron Pico is always in phenomenal positioning and he seems to do it effortlessly... ala David Taylor. Seems almost impenetrable.Yeah, thanks for all 3 - I had only seen the first. Zain really really improved from the first one.
Very good point and Zain had really hit the weights from 2014 to 2015. No one is going to out muscle him. Pico though is just one of those phenoms where it would take your very best to beat him on any given day. His positioning is almost impossible to explain. He's never in a bad position or off balance. Kid is just a very rare talent as is Zain.Had only seen first match as well. Zain with far more left in the tank at the end of the last match. Great improvement.
If Zain was a Greek God, then Pico would be Zeus.Very good point and Zain had really hit the weights from 2014 to 2015. No one is going to out muscle him. True... very true.If Zain were a Greek God, then Pico would be Zeus.
True... very true.
I got to see Frank Molinaro hand Pico a rare loss a few weeks back at the Bill Farrell open. Beautiful high-crotch from Frank with 2 back points. I think he broke Pico's nose in that match but Pico managed to wrestle back to third, beating Molinaro there.
Pico's still so young that you have to figure his body is going to change a bit between now and wherever he winds up.
Zain wrestled Pico better each time he's faced him. Based on how well he's looked this year, I think he'd stand a pretty good shot of finally beating him. Not sure whether Zain is planning on attempting to qualify for the Olympic trials but I think that's the next time we'd find out. I could be totally wrong on that though.
Pico is young to have so much Senior Freestyle experience already. He just turned 19 in Sept. Very impressive that he could come all the way back and take 3rd by beating Frank the way he did in the rematch. From what I understand he is done with amateur wrestling after Rio 2016, whether he makes the Olympic team or not.
I agree. It would be a shock if he weren't a force in MMA in a short period of time.It won't take Pico long to win an MMA belt.

I detect sarcasm.Yeah, no way he wants to face Zain in freestyle. He will run away!
(PS: That's my story and I am sticking with it )
In my time, I could see Dennis Rodman making a transition to MMA!I wonder how much MMA is going to affect folkstyle wrestling long term? It sucks losing a talent like Pico. But MMA I think also brings popularity to the sport of wrestling. Maybe a lebron james type "athlete" chooses wrestling over basketball. Hypothetical situation, but I think it's interesting to ponder.
