Abdul’s injury?

As mentioned a severe separation or a dislocation would usually be slinged and iced immediately. Who knows, but we need Carter because he is different. He must be game planned for and changes the offense by using extra blockers or only quick throws with first reads. There's a reason neither Oregon or OSU threw deep on us, it's Carter.

Vanover is very good and as Boise coach said in pregame presser, we have 4 guys (DE's) who'll probably be playing on Sundays.

Feels like a "I'm doing everything possible to be able to play and believe I will be able to" post
Lots can happen in a week
I’m going to say this. I may be completely proven wrong. I think he got dinged. 2nd quarter, the coaches were pleased with how the defense was playing especially number 15 and decided to roll with what they had. Abdul had missed a decent amount of time already and they were hoping they could finish without him and keep him from reagrvating the injury anymore. I think he will treat it this week and will be good to go next week.

I think it also explains why they were so super aggressive on offense in the 2nd quarter trying to force the issue and getting a big lead. I don’t necessarily agree with the method but they were close a few times. Hell, he gives the ball to Singleton, it’s 21-0 and the game is essentially over. But life isn’t perfect. Neither are college football players

If that’s the case, it’s been a great run. Perhaps we can beat ND or Georgia without him if AK and offense come through, but it would be highly improbable to beat OSU or Oregon without Carter.

I think he plays and hopefully it is no worse than when Allar got hurt. We really need him close to full strength so he can make those disruptive plays. If not then the QB will have more time than we like and that spells trouble. I say we want Georgia to win this game today. We want the lesser of the 2 QBs and that is the Georgia backup.

I was just about to post about what used to be called "stingers". Something that is painful short-term but not a huge issue long-term.

I am not sure. He didn’t move his left arm at all as he was talking to teammates and even high giving a couple. Arm looked pretty weak.

To the optimistic side, he seemed in really good spirits. Usually a player with serious injury is down and needs cheering up. He seemed to be cheering up his teammates.

In conclusion…..🤷🏿‍♂️

Wasn't he on the bike using both arms when they showed him on the sideline?

And Franklin won’t say a thing that means anything.
Well he won't give a very specific revealing answer but he will need to address it. He can't ignore it. Even if he says something like "Abdul really wants to play and we don't know at this point". That would at least tell us if he has a shot at playing or not.

He was on bike but when they showed him walking around the arm hung there.
They showed a clip of some guys trying to put some kind of brace or wrapping on his arm like he was going to try to go back in the game. Don't think it's a shoulder issue. If I had to guess it's 1) a muscle issue 2) it's an elbow issue. The fact that he stayed on the sidelines through post-game celebration and didn't seem too down makes me think it's a #1 and he thinks it's not serious enough to keep him out of the semi game.

I think he plays. The big questions are how limited is he and thus how effective is he?
Both ND and Georgia have big, strong, stout offensive lines. Definitely the best O line we will have faced since OSU. If he is playing hobbled then I just don't know what he could do. He is really good obviously but that extra gear he has to elevate and make disruptive plays even against the best competition may or better said is probably not there if he is hobbled. Does that mean we lose? No but it does mean both DDS and Vanover need to have their best games or at the very least, very good games. Same goes for Durant and Thomas. Without Carter in there or at least without him disrupting plays I am concerned either Georgia or ND has too much time to throw and more broadly could dominate the line of scrimmage.

Even if there is almost no shot Carter is playing, Franklin is going to make sure whoever we are playing is game planning for him. Just like the new Grunk package comments.

Bring his left arm is an issue for a left DE as he uses his left arm a lot for leverage, pushing off, and in a swim move when doing an outside rush.

So if he is limited does he do mostly inside moves or do they move him to other side?

ND or Georgia are not that stupid to not plan for him being in there. They are not listening to what Franklin says.

I think they are prepping Vanover for many more snaps than usual. I am no coach so can't really answer your question but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Maybe they try him at LB a little more and see how we do without him on the line with the pass rush. He still has his speed and hopefully is okay tackling. If that is not successful then see if he can gut it out at DE. I really think Vanover stepping up is huge for us. Boy I really hope Abdul can give it a good go.

I hope that you're right, but I remember Mark Brennan saying after the BG game that Winston was smiling and in good spirits and he ended up missing the rest of the season.

If you remember, Donkoh went out of the UCLA game with a shoulder injury but played the next week against USC.

Speaking of Donkoh, any chance he’s back by Thursday or by the championship game? 🤞🏼
No; my guess is you won't see him on the field until next September at the earliest, and it may be late September or early October.

By the way, unless he experiences an Epiphany, it appears as if he may be an injury prone player throughout his tenure. I hope not, because he has the attributes to be a #1 draft choice.

PLus Rucci has graded out very high in the past few games, turning in to out best OL.

Upper arm or shoulder. Shoulder dislocation and he is not on sidelines laughing with arm at his side. I think it was cautionary to avoid injuring it further. We did not absolutely need Carter. Vanover filled in quite nicely. We kept Jeanty bottled up. The QB made some nice throws but one busted coverage TD all night
From your lips to God's ear. BUT, without him we st8ll held the best RB in many years to 3.5 yd/ carry. No

Given the way he remained in uniform and walked the sideline (seemed in good spirits) - I was thinking stinger as I was watching. Stingers make your arm super weak immediately after they happen, but generally wear-off with time.

For ND game, Abdul on one side and Vanover on the other? We need to sack Leonard many times
