This is just a wish and a prayer, but was his injury officially declared a season ending one? Or was there a small window of hope that he might be able to return late in the season? Just wondering...

Actually, as is his custom, CJF didn't give specific details.

From a Philadelphia Inquirer article from August:

"STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State’s Adisa Isaac, who was expected to be a strong candidate to take over one of the team’s two vacant starting defensive end spots, will most likely miss the entire 2021 season with an undisclosed injury, head coach James Franklin said Saturday.

Isaac, a 6-foot-4, 248-pound junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., played in all nine games for the Nittany Lions last season and was in on 13 tackles, including 1.5 sacks. He had 27 tackles, including three sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss and one forced fumble, in 20 career contests.

Franklin said Isaac’s injury did not happen during football training. He initially said the player would “most likely not be available for the season,” but later expressed the thought that he would “be out for a significant amount of time.”

“He is doing unbelievably well, so you never know, the way medicine is now,” Franklin said. “Adisa has been phenomenal in terms of, you know, doing what he needs to do to get back as quickly as he possibly can. So, you never know. But he’ll be out for a significant amount of time.”"

I think he had a torn Achilles tendon. If true, he's out. BTW, I have not read this anywhere. It's just what I believe happened.

I heard the same thing, in fact someone posted on here over the summer that they saw Adisa Isaac in a walking boot just prior to Franklin stating that Isaac would be out for a long time.

I know I'm typing this as a homer...but you wonder what the potential for return for him AND Mustipher might be should PSU make the playoff somehow...?

It'd be a huge showcase game for each of them...worth "rushing" the return to the field for them and their families. If it's just a regular New Year's Six bowl...meh...no biggie. But for a playoff game? Hmmm.....

I know this is a pipedream but remember Isaac could play four games and still redshirt. So if there is/was any hope of a return for the final four games, that would be a big win-win for PSU and Adisa.

If he did tear his achilles there is a 0% chance of him returning this season. He'd be lucky if he'd have any participation in spring ball next year.

Isaac wouldn’t have an impact. He wasn’t an impact player without the injury and somehow the hope is for him to return better than what he has been. It’s not going to happen.
