Matt Zollers suffers lower leg injury

I would at least some just for public commitment as they generate publicity, sell tickets, help in other recruiting, more.

For a top kid I bet $50,000-100,000 upfront is standard.
It begs the question, when does the NIL 'verbal' become a binding contract?

If there is an upfront standard payment made to the player before he signs, is that 'refundable' if the player reneges and choses a different school?

I appreciate no one sharing the photos in here. That was a pretty gruesome injury. Feel terrible for him. Great talent, will have a bright futuer at Missouri.

He has a Corvette from his NIL that he was driving. Read somewhere that it still in the school parking lot a day or 2 after the injury.

I never saw it, but read that it was probably a dislocated ankle and broke one of the 2 lower leg bones. Probably out 12 months minimum.

It’s all about the terms of the NIL contract both parties agreed to.

Maybe this isn't the thread to discuss this topic given the apparent severity of injury that recently occurred to this young man.

And I agree with you from a conceptual basis, but what really does it mean?

Each player, (attorney/agent(?)), school (coach, AD, NIL coordinator), NIL representative, get together and negotiate their own individual deal?

I dont really follow NIL rules.

If a school is not supposed to be part of the NIL then shouldn't the players be free to play anywhere?

I’m not privy to NIL contracts. If kids made them available, I’m not aware. Kids are absolutely negotiating the deals of size with agents as well. I believe these mostly get done by agents back channeling player demands to coaches, and the collective complies or negotiates to land the player.

I think they get around the what if by making them mostly one year deals. Kid gets hurt or just stinks, his deal runs out and they may not offer as much. Same for a kid who has a great year and hits the open NIL market. It’s cut throat, but what isn’t when big money is involved.
