Here’s to topping it in Nur-Sultan and Tokyo!
Carson still made just as big a contribution to that win as everyone else. That was his first big competition of the year, and he held Nato to only 4 points. If you look at the performance of every PSU wrestler in that dual, it's pretty clear that the win was truly a TEAM effort. Same goes for the NCAA tournament.First comment after Bo's is great

Believer that the first guy can set the tone of a match, and Carson surely did that against tOSU in that dual...even though he lost. Anyone that doesn't get the whole "effort" thing that the coaches teach and preach, need look no further than February 3, 2018 at Rec Hall vs the worthless nuts.Carson still made just as big a contribution to that win as everyone else. If he had pinned NATO, I don’t think REC Hall would have survived.Believer that the first guy can set the tone of a match, and Carson surely did that against tOSU in that dual...even though he lost. Magical stuff.I still remember the hype going into that match before and that was assuming Nolf was healthy. Nolf gets hurt, Ohio State thinks it's a lock and they're tweeting and wearing robes and I'll admit I thought there really wasn't much we could do about it, Cael and his crew? Had other plans. I still remember the whirlwind of emotions that day and the euphoria as the clocked ran to 0 with Snyder only up 15 10
I remember Carson being a mystery that entire semester until he finally came out and took NATO down 3 times including that headlock that if in bounds would likely have led to the biggest upset in NCAA wrestling history. NATO just seemed so shocked in the 1st that this unranked guy was willing to come in and punch him in the mouth.
I fully agree that set a tone because Pletcher seemed adamant to just win against Keener. That is his style in general but you could tell he wanted to be cautious since Keener does utilize the headlock sometimes and Pletch just saw NATO almost get packed with it.
I thought 141 was a must win and McKenna beating Nick at the time was somewhat of an upset (obviously Joey turned it on from that dual on) since McKenna just got majored by Tommy Thorn who Nick proceeded to major himself. I basically lost hope after that.
Then 149 started with Zain down 4-1 and I thought it was going to be one of those days, he flipped it and teched Hayes.
Pipher was clearly outmatched against Micah but it was clear he wasn't going to let himself get packed. (Oh btw, Micah pinned KemDawg later that year)
Cenzo wrestled for bonus against a guy he has wrestled a lot before and I don't believe he has ever bonused previously.
Mark hits a smooth duck and rides the much bigger BoJo out while hollering was another super memorable moment of that match.
I remember so many people thought Bo was #1 by reputation only at that point after close matches against Gravina and Abounader (the latter one being a match many people thought he should have lost) and MyMar had caught or even passed him. Bo made a statement by deciding to tilt him with just 2 seconds left for a major.
I remember before Cassar was a heavyweight champ, he was our 197 backup .... And he was wrestling the presumed #1 and title favorite Kollin Moore. He won that match not with a big move (like how those upsets happen a lot) but by thoroughly outwrestling Moore in all 3 positions.
Similar to NATO and Kuhn, Nevills shocked Snyder by coming out and taking him down right away. Snyder gets desperate in the second and tries to chuck the much bigger Nevills and ended up on his own back.
Yeah, but duals don't matter.Carson still made just as big a contribution to that win as everyone else. That was his first big competition of the year, and he held Nato to only 4 points. How did Askren get in? Tom Ryan was adamant that there wasn't enough seating for visitors.I can only make the trip for one or two duals a year, so glad this was one of them. I was immediately trying to decide if this was the greatest dual of all time, until I got to chat with Ben Askren on the way to the bar. He enthusiastically convinced me that it was. What a blast that night was.
Dunno. Saw Tommy Rowlands in line for the bathrooms with his 3 boys as well. I guess that ate up tOSU's allotment of 4 tickets. How did Askren get in? Tom Ryan was adamant that there wasn't enough seating for visitors.

I was in Beaver Stadium in 1982 for the victory over Nebraska and in the Superdome for the 1983 Sugar Bowl national championship victory over Georgia,. I would probably place those two ahead of the PSU victory over the Buckeyes' that evening, but probably no other events. My wife still says that night was her favorite sporting event ever!

I was in Beaver Stadium for the Nebraska win too! First Beaver Stadium night game with portable lights! Though more of a late afternoon into night game. Great time! I still remember a sign that made me laugh, it was the time of “real men don’t eat quiche”, I remember a sign saying “Nebraska eats quiche!”I was in Beaver Stadium in 1982 for the victory over Nebraska and in the Superdome for the 1983 Sugar Bowl national championship victory over Georgia,. I always say the same thing about Carson's headlock!!!First comment after Bo's is great

Long before the wrestling success, though still a fan in the early '70's, I too was a big PSU football fan. My wife and I attended these games in 1982-83 too, even sat in the corner of the end zone in the Superdome where Garrity made his famous catch. These games are among my favorite football games too, among others. I was also at the Superdome in the mid 1970's for the 13-6 and 14-7 losses to Alabama, so the win vs Georgia was great fun.I was in Beaver Stadium in 1982 for the victory over Nebraska and in the Superdome for the 1983 Sugar Bowl national championship victory over Georgia,. wow that brings back a few memories! Kansas had future Super Bowl MVP, John Riggins, as one of their running backs. Penn State's defense stopped him late in the game on a key 4th down play. Great game!
I watched that Fiesta Bowl on television. What about the Penn State win over Miami for the national championship? That was definitely the high point of JoPa's career.
memory fails and I'm too lazy to look it up, but I recall being a kid and watching a Cotton Bowl game (maybe against Baylor) and at the end of the game they did an onside kick which bounced perfectly to the PSU guy who simply ran forward for a TD. Haven't seen that type of TD since.

nope, mid 70's, and I'm thinking it was an offensive starter, TE perhaps.Ted Kwalcik returned an onside kick in the Army game at Beaver Stadium. 1968 or 1969. Don't remember one in the Baylor game, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
I remember an onside kick returned for a touchdown vs Baylor that sealed the deal...but couldn't remember who ran it back. Looked it up, it was linebacker Joe Jackson.Ted Kwalcik returned an onside kick in the Army game at Beaver Stadium. 1968 or 1969. True, but not sure why you quoted my post … I was responding to NoVa's post about an onside kick return vs Baylor. In 2006 Anthony Scirrotto returned an onside kick 29 yards for a TD against Illinois.
