Another ACC team thumping one of PSU's "signature wins"...

We'll finish #5 at best if we win. The four teams in the playoff will all be ranked ahead of us and if Michigan wins they will be ahead of us too.
IMHO, if we win and Michigan wins, no way will they jump ahead of us. We play a higher ranked team (USC is #9) than who Michigan is playing (FSU is #11). 'Nuff said.

It's possible, but it's also possible that the general rules of college football don't apply to PSU.

I hope so but I have doubts. I already heard one discussion on sports radio about next year's pre season top five and we weren't even mentioned. I could probably come up with next year's preseason top 10 that doesn't include us. College football, especially early on, can be summed up by saying same old, same old. I know preseason rankings don't mean all that much, but if you don't come into the year with a perception of being strong, it's that much harder to get there unless you go undefeated.

We will be in the 8-12 range I would think. Of course OSU and UM will be in front of us. Bama and possibly the next SEC darling. USC and possibly Washington. Throw Clemson and FSU in the mix. Then of course overrrated Oklahoma. I think we come in right at the backend of those teams. We have a schedule that should be manageable so alls good.

You forgot LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Miami (I can see them getting a lot of love due to Richt), and possible Wisconsin. That puts us in the top 15 but just barely. I'm not saying that's where we should be, I'm just basing it on how the "experts" usually think.

If we lose two games, we will almost surely not be in the playoffs. No other 2 loss team will likely be in the playoffs either.

If we lose one game, we will almost surely be in the playoffs.

If we don't lose any games, we absolutely will be in the playoffs.

PSU recruiting will obviously go in the tank....

"National Rep" is ruined......

PSU clearly was a "paper tiger" this year.....

PSU will be lucky to be bowl eligible next year - - - and even if they are, they may not get an invite

:)

Sorry, the Devil made me do it
Bowl games mean nothing. Trying to judge the strength of a conference based on bowl records is nothing short of lunacy.

Uh......."when one feels the sarcasm font can't possibly be needed - someone always proves them wrong"

I think I read that in a fortune cookie once

AWS I think after this year and this Bowl season the luster on SEC is bit tarnished. I think the 3rd ranked Big10 school is an auto pick for top 12. Of course the Big10 is laying an egg in the bowls but if OSU can beat Clemson then alls as it should be. The ACC has obviously placed itself ahead of the other conferences so far but I see Miami definitely behind Penn St. None of those SEC teams did enough this year to go past Big10 #3. And no way Wisconsin is ahead of us. We beat them and have a ton coming back. I didn't forget those teams I just don't view them as positioned to start the year ahead of us. If we beat USC I really see us at 6th-8th. If we get beat up maybe 8th-12th. Just my opinion.

I wish I had as much faith in the pollsters as you do. Watching different games and listening to talk radio I've heard at least 12 different teams that are top 10 teams next year and none of them are PSU. The usual biases still exist and will next year.

That sucks. Admittedly I haven't heard or looked into early predictions for next year. I'm basing my prediction on two things. Almost metrics or something. One is Big Ten rated as preseason top 1or 2 in conference strength. And two Penn St as 3rd best team. I think that gets us in top 10.
