PSU recruiting will obviously go in the tank....

"National Rep" is ruined......

PSU clearly was a "paper tiger" this year.....

PSU will be lucky to be bowl eligible next year - - - and even if they are, they may not get an invite

:)

Sorry, the Devil made me do it

Not that far off if the bowl trend continues. The value of our season will certainly take a hit. If every bowl team we beat loses in their bowl, what do you think it will do to the judgement of our season? Obviously it won't hurt recruiting, but we certainly could be viewed as a paper tiger.

I guess that would depend on how we do in our bowl. If we win no impact.

I disagree. Do you think if WMU wins their bowl game they will be put up there with Bama because they finished undefeated? No, because the perception of who they beat matters.

And headed into next season no one will remember or care. Half the bowl teams lose. Most every top 10 team sees teams they beat take bad losses. No one who has beaten OSU and Wisconsin will be considered a paper tiger.

You're 0 for 2 so far. Best wait until the 4th quarter, at least, before issuing proclamations.

We have 3 teams in "real" bowls. Everybody else is putting their +2 team against ours. pitt is like 4 in the acc and playing the big ten 8. There is a reason we are dogs in every game. Our crappy teams are playing teams 2 slots better in other conferences. Not that espn would pick up on that, though.

Heard a discussion on talk radio today about next year's top 5 and we weren't even mentioned. So we're already working out of a hole in terms of perception.

Tell me.......what do you THINK the point is?

Your point was that Wake was thumping Temple, which ended up being a one score game.

Your point yesterday was that BC was kicking Maryland's ass, which ended up being a one score game.

Hence, you are 0-2 in your proclamations.

Don't think anyone has any idea what your point is, so it appears flawed or poorly communicated.

Big deal. If we beat USC we likely will be. If we lose, it won't matter if every bowl team we played won their game.

Is this reality?
"Hey Charlie. Penn State lost by 21 to USC but all the bowl teams they played during the regular season won. They must actually be good."
OR.
"Hey Joe. Penn State crushed USC, but during the season they played a bunch of teams that lost bowl games. They must actually suck."

Oh good grief - - - they were both getting thumped when I posted (though it wouldn't have surprised me at all if Temple had come back to win that game - truth is, they should have)

The POINT, as I have to believe you are aware - is that Temple, or Maryland, or Minnesota (if they get curb stomped tonight) getting whooped in their bowl games is utterly meaningless vav Penn State (unless one finds a kid that both programs are recruiting - in which case it may help PSU)

Good grief.......that's the only thing resembling a "proclaiation"

You - on the other hand - should issue 5 Mea Culpas and accept a "cease and desist"..... if PSU doesn't suffer some irreparable harm based upon all the bowl losses suffered by folks who were on PSU's schedule.

Well, you went a long way to making a meaningless point.

This is exactly why we'll probably end up with poor bowl record. But like you said no one will acknowledge this

How about everyone Penn State beat (including USC) lost their bowl games so apparently the team's they beat weren't that good so therefore Penn State was overrated. From the sports radio I listen to, there's already a perception that we were kind of a one season luck team and having all of the teams we beat lose in their bowls games would strengthen the belief that we had a good season because we played an easy schedule. Do you really think college football people are looking for reasons to elevate Penn State's program? I'm guessing they would rather have evidence that our season wasn't as good as it looked and therefore justify a lower ranking next year. We're digging out of a hole and our competition losing their bowl games is just adding more dirt.

I admire your tenacity, but we must live in different worlds. In my world, if we beat USC our stature will rise. If we lose, especially in a blowout, it will fall. Almost no one will care, or remember, if Temple won or lost, or Maryland, or anyone else. Next year will be judged on its own merit.

Apparently we do live in different worlds. I think if we beat USC and all of our opponents lose their bowl games, it will make people think USC was overrated more than they will think PSU is that good.

But.....but ......but,,,,,,The Fat Boy and the Metrosexual will be talking about it on ESPiN next week - - - and all the Fan-Boys will be listening!!!!!!

Oh.....The HUMANITY!!!!!

If we beat USC we most likely will finish 3rd in the country. Do you think they will drop us from the 5 spot because our opponents lost their bowl games?
