ASU decides Cael Can’t Redshirt RBY

I'm still trying to figure out where this promotion says anything regarding RBY.

I’ve seen many on this site say RBY will not redshirt because of the dual being in his home state. I for one think it’s very short sited to decide if a kid redshirts or doesn’t based off one match, and is something the coaching staff will not weigh too heavily into the decision

This is backward. It's an indicator, not a driver.

Of course Cael isn't starting RBY because Tempe is on the schedule. He's scheduling Tempe now (instead of next year) because he's not planning to shirt RBY.

For everyone who shows up, I think that you'll find the Wells Fargo arena at ASU to be a pretty good venue. If you keep your eyes peeled, you might catch a glimpse of Curly Culp, 1967 NCAA Hwy champion and NFL Hall of Fame. He and Stephen Neal are the only two athletes who have both NCAA Wrestling titles and a Super Bowl ring. He's an ASU alum and I'm sure that he will be there.

Not "many", though maybe a couple. Decisions on wrestling kids has everything to do with points at NCAA's, and not one thing to do with wrestling a particular dual.

Ag, I had the privilege of meeting Curly in an upscale hotel lobby during the Cleveland NCAA. He was holding court there and I didn't know who he was so I approached this guy wearing a NFL HOF blazer.

What a nice guy. He had some great stories. Ag, you used the word "glimpse" of Curly, Curly is one big dude, if you do see him, you'll get more than a glimpse. He made my day back then, only to be surpassed by Bo later that weekend.

They should add the football model where you can go in 4 matches and redshirt.
