B1G commish to the Bears

When will he stop around for the farewell tour? We usually would expect a speech and bestowing of gifts, prizes and awards.

Kevin Warren makes the interesting decision to leave a job he would never be fired from to take one he almost assuredly will, within a few years.

The conference has been dragging their feet on renewing his contract, so I don't think him sticking around long term was the 'sure thing' one would usually think it would have been.

Interesting timing to get a new commish for the B2G. All new scheduling. No divisions. Expanding playoffs. Still adapting to NIL and the portal. Adding USC and UCLA.

The next five years will be highly impactful for the league and all of college sports, not just football. The new commish will be a critical hire.

Agree with all you said, but my biggest takeaway from your post is that I will only refer to the conference as the B2G from now on. That is fantastic!

Under his watch the Big Ten got a TV deal that dwarfs the SEC's, and added USC and UCLA. He mis-stepped in 2020 perhaps, but I think he did pretty well after that.
I've read some Tweets that Warren wanted to expand even more and the big players in the Big Ten didn't want to, so apparently they didn't see eye to eye on expansion either. If true, between that and the COVID mess he created I'm not sure the university presidents will be all that sad to see him go. It appears that the feather in his cap will be the TV deal.

The university presidents in the B2G ...dead wood that gives the 🪓? Warren made a good decision. Let's see how the old guard does...probably sit on there hands.

Obviously, the NFL regards Warren more than many here. I have often wondered how much the university presidents stood on him in 2020.

Timing more than anything. SEC deal was made '20. Big 10 deal '22.

Do you think the SEC would get less money if negotiations began next week?

Pretty sad that running the train wreck called the Chicago Bears is better than dealing with the B2G Presidents, ADs, and egomaniac coaches plus dealing with the NCAA, the media and fans.

With all major changes hitting the league all at once the Bears are the sane choice.

Great now I can apply for the Commish job and rattle some cages. Start with completely hosing O$U and scUM for the next 30 years to get even.

Surely there must be a Grand Panjandrum available.
