I'm looking for the board's advice. I paid a premium for 2 tix for this Sunday vs Nebby. I also live 3hrs away. Right now the forecast shows 9-12" of snow that weekend. Would that cancel the dual? What does everyone think- sell now? Wait and see?

Below the Mason Dixon line that is a state of emergency, above the line, it's a dusting. I doubt they cancel.

That's 6 days out. The odds that the forecast stays 9-12 inches from that far out is close to zero. Wait for Wed/Thurs to make decision.

I have never known them to cancel a dual, not that I can remember, I would think that Neb will be flying in on Friday

A number of years ago a dual meet with Oklahoma was canceled due to weather when Oklahoma couldn’t make it in...unless I’m dreaming because I drove up for the match in really crappy weather only to find out it was cancelled

My thoughts would be
(1) Wait a few days for the forecast to stabilize
(2) Depends on which direction you're coming from.

I'm watching the weekend weather closely for work reasons -- we're 3 hrs SE of PSU. Here it says "possible rain + snow, high 40" -- I'm thinking flurries that don't stick until later.

PSU forecast similar, a couple degrees colder but high above freezing, sleet instead of rain but still "possible."

Gonna be bitter cold at night, so something will stick and/or freeze.

I'd probably go anyway -- and get a hotel with a covered garage. (Nittany Lion Inn, Hyatt, or Hotel Atherton.)

Ticket prices are most likely plummeting on secondary markets...better sell quick or you won't be able to give them away. I could take them off you're hands for $5. :)

Just kidding...i have tickets also and will have to start watching the weather myself. My problem is Mrs. JA may not approve of me risking my life to trek the 90 miles in a snowstorm for a wrestling match. Not sure if telling her a 50+ match winning streak is on the line will help much either.

Quite honestly I'd hitch a ride on a snowcat up Seven Mtns. to get there if I had to. :)

Nebraska not being able to get there because of the weather is probably the only reason the dual would be cancelled and they are wrestling at MD on Friday night so will probably be in SC Saturday morning.

I've listed them on a secondary market- like you, the Mrs. might not approve of the trek. If the weather doesn't improve and they don't sell- I might be back here Sunday giving them away. It's disappointing- I'll miss lots of good matchups plus hanging out with my old bud from school (he does the Clearfield wrestling radio pbp).

As of right now Accuweather says the Sunday weather forecast for SC is Considerable cloudiness, a chance for a bit of snow or flurries; breezy. Doesn't sound like a problem to me. Of course, by Sunday it could be a blizzard. :D

I'm from clfld... who are you talking about?

I believe the issue is more about the "potential for a major winter storm Saturday night."

I think Accuweather tends to be more accurate than some of these places, but even they probably have a lousy track record this far out. I hope that they do too because I'm supposed to be flying to Punta Cana from Buffalo on Sunday morning. Eesh…..

Just tell your wife you are all paid up on your life insurance premiums, she may even pack snacks for you

During to Erie from Reading Thursday after work. Forecast show snow everyday for the next week...... :(
Well we are due for some, it has been pretty mild up this way. All the storms that have been hitting PA have stayed south of us. Safe travels.

PSU moved Saturday's hockey game up from 7PM to 3 PM to try to avoid the storm. So they are expecting it to hit for sure.

Sunday, February 10th is the only mutual off Friday or Sunday left on the schedule. Penn State is at Ohio State that Friday night, and Nebraska hosts Minnesota the same night. I know the Big Ten doesn't generally like to have teams fly from small-market (Lincoln) to small-market (State College) on a two-dual weekend, but it looks unavoidable in this instance.

That’s gonna be fairly dense stuff, and falling at 1”-2” per hour at times. Glad I’m not shoveling it...

So, I'm planning to come north from Charlotte, NC for Sunday's meet. I've modified my plans to travel on Friday and return on Monday, so I should be fine travel wise. What are the odds two feet of snow on Saturday messes with my weekend? Any idea when such a call would be made?

Accuweather still forecasting 6-10"

Well I think you may be in luck, if we get hit as bad as folks are saying that will cancel flights for a day and that will in turn back up all flights. Naturally you won’t be back in Charlotte on Monday as planned and in state college instead. Can’t ask for anything better , I say that having been down in Charlotte before on a short business trip so can say with some authority you want be missing anything. Enjoy the extra day and grab the world known ice cream.

Days Inn, $84.15 per night for Saturday and Sunday nights. Make it a mini vacation and your wives will be very happy, possibly thrilled! Here is a link to make the reservations:

Mr. Nap, Your response is disturbing on several levels. One, I am booked at the Days Inn. Are you monitoring my computer activity or is it that you are aware I now a good deal when I see one? Secondly, I did not mention who I was traveling with, so how did you know I was a polygamist? Since my wife/wives are staying behind, is it your position they will be happier the longer I stay in PA? :(

Looking forward to an epic pub crawl in two feet of snow Saturday night. Maybe I'll meet another wife.
