As a purely theoretical example, what if we pursued Nate Oats at U of Buffalo? Here's his yearly compensation package:
Base: $600k
some incentives (like winning the Mac) $50k, NCAA Rd of 16: $10k
Auto, Cell Phone, computer: $12K (estimate)
So that's $672K, round up to $700k/year currently for Oats
Can we not offer him (or someone similar) $1,000,000/yr ????
BTW, Nate Oats Buyout (2019-2020) = $500k
So, for $5.5 million he gets a 5 yr contract, a raise and we get a coach who's won two MAC titles and been to two NCAA Big Dances (incl a Tournament win over Arizona) since 2015 (3 seasons).
Buffalo Currently = #23 AP Ranking.
Now, I do not know what it takes for assistants salaries, perhaps someone else can estimate that.
($500k/yr total for 4-5 assistants??)
These types of monies would come from within the BB program and therefore fund the new coaching hire, correct? Certainly we profit $5 million in 5 years, enough to pay a new coach + staff, right?
(BTW, 'googled' chambers salary and results said $900k/yr).
