Assume it's Gordon. Secondary is soooooooo stacked!!

Looking at the offer list, this kid has one of the best overall profiles imaginable:

PSU, Michigan, LSU, Florida, aTm, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA....Air Force, Army, Navy, Yale, Dartmouth. Says a lot about the student athlete.

Where are all those people now, who, during last season, wanted to dump Franklin for Les Miles?

.......PSU cornerbacks coach Terry Smith, who Gordon has developed the strongest relationship with among coaches that have recruited him throughout the process.

Smith and head coach James Franklin ultimately won him over with their belief in him as more than just a football player.

“I think their attitude towards me actually got better after seeing me in person,” he said. “I can’t even describe it because it was such a great feeling just being there - their whole vibe was so good.

“The fact that they really enjoyed me as a person and more than just a football player,” he added. “They like me, they like my family and what I am motivated by. That’s what kind of captivated me when it came to how they recruited me - it was about me as a student as well.”

Gordon also made stops at LSU, Michigan, and Tennessee - all programs that also made his shortlist of finalists.

“Some schools, on the other hand, weren’t as interested in my family or me as a person; they were strictly about football and me helping them out with the program.”

“When Penn State offered at first, I didn’t know much about them, the offers were just all coming in still,” he added. “As the weeks went on and they kept contacting me and I found out more about them, I realized this was actually a powerhouse school. That’s when I started falling in love with them.”

Oh c'mon, that's pretty weak. I'm on this board pretty regularly yet don't dive into all the recruiting stuff. Sure hope my Penn State fandom isn't measured by not knowing the itinerary of a high school junior.
If you would have ask the question i would have said nothing.
The person i replied to is a one subject poster and 100% negative. Review his posting history.

Oh, ok. Got it. Sorry to butt in.

Well Bob, looks like our culture has reared it's ugly head again.

This quote from Gordon as well:

I love this kid already. Any recruit that uses the word "captivated" has to be special.:)

We're awful.

He has to have outstanding character and academics to get all three military schools offering. Great job Smithy!

Any chance he will be an early enrollee? Seems he has the brains and the drive to do so.

I love this kid already. Welcome home Trent!!

His film is really outstanding. Super high football IQ, reminds me of John Reid. Reads offensive formations, makes good quick decisions. You got to love a d-back who has the presence of mind to tip balls and give his teammates interceptions.

This feels to me like we're entering a new era for PSU recruiting. In the past when PSU's gotten players from Texas it was almost always a family connection or previous residency in Pa.

This was a Texas guy, a national level recruit, who decided to take a visit to PSU and was won over by the program as well as the academics. I would guess this is the kind of player Franklin was referring to when he talked about 2018 recruiting -- since the Rose Bowl PSU is on the radar of some players who never would have given PSU a second thought before.

It's another step toward actual parity with Michigan and Ohio State. I don't know that we'll ever see 100% parity because OSU, especially, attracts a lot of kids who want under-the-table benefits and have no intention of ever graduating from college (i.e. a big pool of talent that will never be interested in a school like PSU).

But PSU is now certainly on track to match up better with Ohio State than they have since the mid-1990s. Secondary and wideouts -- Ohio State has always had such enormous talent at those positions. Maybe PSU will at least be in the same neighborhood talent-wise now. And that is a really big step for the program.

Doesn't matter. They are concentrating on Florida now, looking for sleepers that run the 40 in 4.2 or less.

They don't even put up an effort to go after highly rated recruits. I think PN has resigned himself to bargain shopping and picking up kids that get disappointed when their top schools tell them there is no room days before NSD. Is there a single top 200 recruit that currently names SPitt as his dream school?
