Football Beau Pribula has a nice new ride

It wouldn't hurt a bit to deploy both early a la Harbaugh playing JJ with Cade. Nothing is guaranteed until you step on the field and earn it. Fall practice should be fun. Prayers for a healthy run.
Why is this a bad thing? Beau is all PSU and is taking advantage of NIL. I’m actually optimistic that if Allar goes down Pribila could carry the team like McSorley.

Definitely not a bad thing. Backups need quality reps when available. I understand playing time is earned in practice and I'm not advocating an equal time share, but there is a time to be smart about it.

Here we are posting about PSU football in the off-season because we love the sport and the team. The PSU program generates tremendous interest, is an important part of the University's brand, and yes, generates a lot of money.

The NIL is now a legal way for current players to share in some of the benefits. I don't know if there needs to be some adjustments and some regulation, but the basic concept makes sense. Good for the players.

Respectfully disagree. I want Allar to get 95% of the snaps and I really hope the coaches don’t try to force Pribula onto the field in some other role. Never good for the offense, IMO.

Regents Glen is a country club from Pribulas hometown and I’m pretty sure it is now owned by Inch and Co who has been giving cars to a lot of PSU players

I agree. Don't get me wrong, I hope Drew is all everyone thinks he is, but I have a feeling Beau is everything you dream about in a QB. Time will tell, but I won't be surprised if Pribula climbs to the #1.
Boy, you don’t pay enough attention to King Wally who knows all…according to him Pribula won’t even be able to get a snap off. Come on man, keep up with the guru of doodoo.

I have heard that Beau looks fantastic in practice. And he is of the mobile style that Franklin loves. Puts a lot of pressure on defenses. Allar struggles at all he could lose his title as Savior.

What a disgrace this sport has become. Smh
Every other college student that has a following on social media is cashing in on their popularity. Why shouldn't college football players cash in as well. My daughter has a relatively modest, but not insignificant following on social media and she has companies sending her free stuff all of the time (unfortunately much smaller stuff than a new car) to post on her social media. Apparently, providing products to individuals with a significant following on social media so that they place pictures of themselves with the product on their social media is a very effective form of advertising. The market is the market. IMO, it is not a disgrace that college football players are finally getting to cash in on their popularity. If other students can do it, why can't they?

As a former ad guy and sports marketer I am with you 1000%. Marketing is up to the client- and if giving a local guy a BMW helps sell memberships to their golf club it is a win-win.

I also "lliked" the disgrace comment. For all the crap we wrote about Terrelle Pryor and his Corvette, and all the $EC footbll parking lot jokes it just feels wrong. But yes, times change. There don't appear to be any rules, nor anyone to enforce them if there were some sort of code of conduct. So why not?

I'm also with Roy- it is about time that players get in on the profits. But I hate this NIL stuff...makes Free Shoes University "scandal" seem like child's play.

The times they are a changin'. When Lane Kiffin says things are "out of whack" (a Paternoism) then you KNOW they are FUBAR. I'm only 58 but feeling lime a grumpy old man! Good for #9....what does Drew drive?

I don’t care about the car but does anyone actually think giving a 19 year old an x7 is going to increase memberships at a country club? More likely the point is that other prospects seeing Penn states backup qb gets an x7 helps in the recruiting trail.

Agreed- could be a fool's errand. Car is likely just leased to him...Beau said "drive" not own. But still....nice ride for a college kid whose Daddy's name isn't Warbucks. Good for him.

Yes, it’s almost certainly leased. You or I would pay $1600+ a month for a 3-4 year lease. Although it’s an SUV, it’s an M Class and goes 0-60 in 4 seconds. Fast car, hope he is a good driver. I wonder what the insurance premium is on this SUV? Who pays taxes?

EDIT. I did some research and see some deals are for usage of the vehicle, no lease, player purchases an insurance rider, can get upgrades. There are certainly tax implications for this as well that vary by state.

He said ‘provided’ so it may not even be a lease. Could be a three year less, could be a one year deal.

So suppose it’s a one year deal. At $1,600/ month that’s just under $20,000. Plus the vehicle would lose value as a used car. May also be some insurance costs involved.

So for around $30,000 this dealer is getting a huge amount of publicity just for making the deal. And I imagine that part of the deal is that he has to do some promotional work like a commercial or doing a couple events like cars shows or events at the dealership like signing autographs and taking pics with fans. All in all, a pretty good deal for the dealer.

Our conference signed a $7 billion tv package. That money from college football supports the athletics program at each school and entire regional economies like central PA. I want to see NIL regulation, but the players deserve to meaningfully partake in the economics of cfb as well beyond the scholarship .

I love it, 1 month before the season and we already are getting some interest in the back-up. Did a new roster get posted showing Pribula gained 1 more LB than Allar and is now ready?
Was not saying Beau should be the starter. Just saying that everyone assumes automatically that Allar is the man. Saying that Beau has looked really good and if Allar falters at all he may not start.
