Best Ever PSU Wrestler

Was DT that year a better overall wrestler than Dake that year?

If you measure by team points during the season and in the NCAA tournament, it's not even close. DT by a mile.

That question doesn't have anything to do with wrestling, does it?

? Of course it does, because by pretty simple logic, the guy you want on your team is the better wrestler. I can't think of any reason why you'd want Dake on your team in 2013 rather than Taylor except for bragging rights unrelated to your team's actual performance. If Taylor gets more team points during the season and during NCAAs, why would you want Dake instead? So you can say "we had x+1 individual champs" instead of "we had x individual champs". There is rather obvious scenario where having the champ instead of the guy who scored more team points could cost you a team championship.

Most meaningful for the program- DT.
Most punishing- Zain.
Best viewing for a fan- Nolf/Bo
Most amazing NCAA performance- Cenzo
Most make the sport seem easy- Ruth

Too many great wrestlers on this team current and recent past to say any one guy is the end all. Nico (despite his lack of room success) was a huge cog in the team success and Mr. reliable every time he took the mat. Frank the tank was valuable in leadership and grit. Matt Brown was a great story and had a great career. Mark Hall is still writing his legacy (and what a legacy). Lucky b_stards!

I never fail to read any of your posts. Top notch.

I think people are already starting to forget how magical the Magic Man was wrestling in blue and white. I've never seen anyone convert situations at the edge of the mat into takedowns when you would swear nothing was going to happen except a restart with no points being scored at anywhere close to DT's rate.

But I love the list.

If he was an assassin I picture him challenging himself to make each kill perfect and entertaining.

Off the mat looks like a kid from a 50s tv show, on the mat a predator. Doesn't look physically imposing but then the same things could be said for Spencer. If I had to choose a PSU guy that I wanted at Iowa instead, it would have been him.

I have posted this before, but you may have missed it.
Two years ago they were working on the main entrance to the wrestling room so you had to enter and exit in the SE fire exit.
For a Saturday youth practice I had my grandson at practice and his 3 year old sister. My granddaughter had to use the restroom and "pappy I don't want to use those smelly things" (portapotty). So I had to walk her around to the main entrance and let her use the restroom. When she was done I was heading back and ran into Jason. He was friendly as get out, he engaged my granddaughter, ask if I was attending the match tomorrow night and just talked wrestling for about 5 minutes. He was as nice as could be.
After just talking he excused himself he had to get ready for practice.

He saw me on the way into the room and stopped one more time to say hello. He sounded just as polite, but the look in his eyes had changed from smiling and engaging to narrow and focused. Like a predator immediately prior to a kill.

I did laugh my ass off that day. My grandson wanted a picture with Jason and of course Jason said yes. While Jason was kneeling next to my standing grandson my grandson put up bunny ears behind Jason. I snapped at him stop that. Jason looked qiuzingly at me and ask what. I said he gave you the bunny ears. Jason gave grandson a small slap in the belly and snapped listen to your pap and get in here so we can get this picture. In the picture Jason is grinning ear to ear and grandson is standing next to Jason leaning as far away from Jason as he could.

Every now and then I pull that picture up and tell him to behave or I am telling Jason Nolf he is giving him bunney ears again.
