I love the we have had Carter then AB for the last three years it’s such a statement. Then I was watching Zain tech Mayes and thinking how teams must have felt with Nolf on deck. What a crushing set of opponents! Then there’s Josef/Hall, RBY/Lee. A couple thoughts who are some of your favorite one two punches ? PSU or any team any era. Or most hated (Gilman/Clark) for example.

Little off topic, but today on my yahoo sports feed, the topic was sports records that will never be broken. No mention of Cael.

I think it was pretty cool when Mark would go out and hit a big move in the 1st period for the fall, then Bo would come out and do the same move for the fall in less time. That happened quite a few times, as memory serves . . . .
They definitely had a bit of a friendly competition on that front. It was awesome to watch.

Gotta be Zain/Jason
Not taking anything away from the other legends on this list, but in the three years that Zain and Jason wrestled together, back to back, their combined record was 179-3, with an amazing 153 bonus point victories.

Zain obviously ran the table those there years, and one of Jason’s 3 losses was an injury default, and the other 2 losses were to 2-timer Imar.

guess then we'll have a great 1-2-3 punch ;).
I’ve often wondered exactly how opposing coaches prep their squad for PSU. Sure … saying that “we are testing our metal” is legit, but, facing such a stacked lineup has to exact a mental toll on many wrestlers during the run up. At REC Hall those wrestlers have to face our intense crowd. If at home, oh damn … this might be embarrassing. Other than saying “this is a measuring stick”, … how do opposing coaches get their squad ready to handle a day that is certain to be ugly?

I have to admit that I wasn't super familiar with Bernie Truax's game until a couple days ago, but man, PSUs 174-285 are going to steamroll a lot of teams. Our back four will feature guys ranked 1-3-1-2. That's brutal. Well, the entire lineup is brutal, but that's particularly rough.

Truax has a lot of really high quality wins and his length will make for some serious problems against many 184lb guys. If Cael can shore up his very few deficiencies, I think he could win it this year. He's 1-1 against Keckeisen, and no offense to the Cal Poly staff, but they aren't Cael Sanderson and Casey Cunningham, and his training partners there weren't Carter Starocci and Aaron Brooks.

Has anyone heard anything more than speculation concerning Starocci and Brooks and Olympic RS's next year?

It is brutal. And it's actually a downgrade from last year, which I think started the season 1-1-1-1? Or close to that.
Yes, the entire lineup top to bottom next season = Damn!

Kerk started the season at #4?
I'm guessing Schultz was #1?
The previous year was the year of Kerk > Parris, Parris > Cass, Cass > Kerk. Did Kerk end up behind both them too?
I thought we were talking returning placement, not rankings. My bad.

Yes, I believe Kerk started the season at #2 behind only Schultz, who was runner-up the previous year to Steveson.

It will be interesting see how low our starting lineup combined ranking will evntually get during the season. With 10 being the lowest possible if all ranked 1, I would speculate we could get to 20 with a fully healthy Howard and everything else going really well. Howard would have to get up to at least 5 so that would leave the rest of the team having to get to 5 number 1's and 2 number 2's and 2 number 3's.

Abe-Kolat was a good one until Cary got all pissed and left. Similar era, the Hughes brothers were both very solid, with one of them winning a natty as a junior.

Under Cael we have rarely had a 1-2 punch, Usually is was a 1-2-3 or 1-2-3-4 or 1-2-3-4-5 punch. In 2010 and 2015 we had one finalist and in 2014 we had two, but every other year we have had 3 or more finalists. Not sure how an oppposing coach prepares his team for that. Pray for rain and a leak in the roof?

Some coaches prepare for that by refusing to wrestle unless mandated somehow.

I wonder what Kolat's results would have been if he would have wrestled these days under Cael, Cody, Casey and Jimmy.
He would've still ended up at Lock Haven if he didn't clean up his off the mat behavior.

"Cary got all pissed," lol. Maybe he shouldn't have passed out on a park bench, drunk.

Cary would have stepped into a different culture than the one he entered at that time.
He would have either been Marsteller and been encouraged to seek other opportunities or he would have entered with a more welcome attitude towards a different structure.
