If he likes Bourbon, make sure he would also like Sinatra JD.
@Midnighter - picked up the JD Sinatra Select yesterday at Total Wine and Spirits in Claymont. $170 - no tax. So it's expensive no question.
You get a full liter at 90 proof and a commemorative box and bottle, as well as a little book with Sinatra pictures and stories.
Very much looking forward to a taste test after work tomorrow.
I would never use liquor like this to make Manhattans. With all the botanicals in the vermouth, let alone the bitters and the cherries, you will never be able to enjoy the complex flavors in the whiskey. I don't use Jack in Manhattans anyway, I go with mid tier bourbon like Maker's, Beam or Grand-Dad. You want to use a nice liquor, but no need IMO for super-premium where you can't appreciate it.
Actually I like to make them with Rye, if I have some on hand. Gives it more of a peppery finish.
Anyway I'll post my impressions after we pull the cork.
Up. I prefer OTR. Never heard of salting the rim, but for $15, I'd take a flyer.Great - looking forward to your thoughts! I too would never use a super premium spirit in a Manhattan (prefer bourbon to rye) but it was sort of the signature drink in the Keys bar on the Disney ship and it was only $15. It has more than you typical Manhattan, namely Antica Formula Carpano Vermouth and Cointreau (they also salt the rim with....something; it was really, really good whatever it was). You can see a pic of it below:

I tried porch rocker. I liked their summer ale better. It wasn't bad though.Rocker is one of the best of the summer season. Very refreshing

It could be that it wasn't exactly summer when I tried Porch Rocker. It's funny how, at least for me, the taste and enjoyment level of a beverage is affected by the weather you're drinking it in.I like both.
I had a Peroni the other day, for the first time, and really liked it.
It might be overly carbed for some but I thought it was pretty tasty.
INMO kind of a more carbonated version of Stella Artois.
I like both Stella and Peroni. Both top quality beers.I like both.

Stella is very good. I don't think I've had Peroni though.I like both.

@Midnighter We did the official taste test in State College over July 4. The verdict was unanimous - a jury of myself, my brother and my Dad gave it a whirl and all of us thought it was OUTSTANDING!@Midnighter - picked up the JD Sinatra Select yesterday at Total Wine and Spirits in Claymont. $170 - no tax. The smoothness was awesome. Starts out boldly with strong oak then fades to vanilla and caramel. Terrific mouthfeel and the taste lingers on the palate with no off-notes or harshness.
Didn't have any spring-water ice so we tested up, I used an Old Fashioned glass to open it up a tad.
IMO this is outstanding and well worth the splurge. If you look at the Internet reviews or on You Tube, there are people who don;t care for it, but people who like it, really like it. My own opinion is, that's why there are so many varieties and price points. The only review that counts is your own. Let your palate be your guide.

Ah, the classic Cape Codder. Always popular PLUS you get your all-important quota of Vitamin C.Keep it simple. Either Grey Goose and cranberry juice or gin and lemonada.

Money 47 - may be hard to find, though it is getting easier - the best G&T I've had

My go-to is a bourbon (just a Jim beam or basic four roses), with a splash of lemon juice then filled the rest of the way with ginger ale.
For my wife on the weekends, I’ll take a container of raspberries, add 1/2 cup lime juice, 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup sugar, and blend. Then strain out most seeds into a larger container, add 1/2 cup triple sec, 1 cup raspberry liquor, 1 cup tequila and swirl it to mix. Blend up some ice and fill a margarita glass 3/4 with that, then pour the mixture on it and stir to mix the ice in. That recipe makes about 6-7 drinks.
The Tequila drink looks good. Whats your go to Tequila?
For a drink mixed with that much I just use 1800. If I’m just drinking tequila I enjoy the casamigos anejo. You?

Should also note I’m not as big of a tequila drinker as bourbon or scotch, which is likely why I favor a tequila that tilts more that direction.
