Big Nooner, Joel Klatt and White Out

Klatt has been so salty since Sunday. Really harping that the h2h between OSU and Penn State just can't be ignored. Would have liked some of that fire in 2016. God I want to win 4 straight so he can cry about the seeding all offseason. Feels like we rarely get breaks, I'll take this one.

One has to recall an old saying my Father taught me. Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names can never hurt me.

Let the talking heads spew their nonsense. We have more important matters at hand, namely, BEAT SMU to make us 1 & 0 in the playoff games for 2024 and to move forward up the ladder.

To be fair, we did get a bit lucky with the seeding. But, the committee has been harping on the fact that CCG losses will not be held against teams so they had to follow the rules. OSU also lost to a poor Michigan team and also lost to Oregon. Klatt just wants to ignore a loss to Michigan when it’s convenient for his agenda.

Klatt also ignores the fact that we were ranked ahead of OSU before the big ten championship game. All of the points he makes for putting them ahead of us were also true prior to the championship being played.

We absolutely got lucky. So what. I'll take some luck. We rarely get it on the field so if the committee wants to give some to us send it over.

Klatt also ignores that that committee never got to comparing us with OSU since we were compared with ND first. After that…..it’s OSU vND which had to stay the same since neither played that weekend.. Kinda like when we didn’t make the playoff in 2016. We weren’t compared with OSU. We were compared with Washington.

Exactly. I have been saying this since he reared his ugly head on this topic last week AFTER the penultimate rankings were released. They are not dropping us below OSU when OSU does not play and we play #1 Oregon down to the final minute. Logically he is a clown show.

Good point.

I think many, including national media, is forgetting that the committee is using a set of objective criteria to select and seed the playoffs. I believe the conferences agreed to and selected the evaluation criteria with the committee. So, they can’t just do whatever the hell they want or select by “feel or the eye test”. It potentially makes for some scenarios that can be questioned, but they have policy and metrics behind the selections.

He acts like we were in Indiana’s spot, and then jumped to 6 after the game.

Klatt's issue is he's looking at it as two 2-loss teams not an 11-2 vs 10-2 team. It's the safe reason they don't understand ND not being 3rd ahead of us and Texas.

Ohio State beat 2 playoff teams, lost by 1 to another playoff team--there's logic in thinking they should be ahead of us when they beat us UNTIL you factor in the extra win and both our losses were by a score when they lost at home to a bad Michigan team.

People are never all going to agree with ranking. I think it's insane that SMU is ahead of Bama but also happy SMU is ahead of Bama
Miami being the second team out is even more nonsense but thankfully irrelevant.
