Bo Bassett announces on Tuesday

Who do we have slot into 149 after?
Can Sealey drop down ?
With amputation. He's at 165 this year.

Maybe Blaze gets up there, but he looks more like a 141. Right now Shayne's most likely successors are Herring, Perry, and Weiss. Maybe Pierce for a year, except Shayne will get a medical shirt if he wants it.

Don't know the particulars, but it seems like SVN already was granted the medical redshirt. Byers has called SVN a "fourth-year sophomore" and SVN is listed as a sophomore on the PSU wrestling team roster.

Lets not forget Bo is still a kid. Whatever his reasons are for choosing whatever school he does, its his decision. I'm not saying the figures being thrown around aren't true, and I'm not saying they are. There are very few that actually know and sooner or later it will come out. I know as an 18 year old, if a school offered me $5mil, I would be wearing that singlet. I have a hard time believing anyone would turn down that kind of money. I also heard Oklahoma St offered a private jet for his parents to attend all competitions. Again, who knows what the truth is. If he chooses any school other than Penn State, I hope he does well enough to make that team finish behind the blue and white. When his college career comes to an end, I will cheer for him to bring home a gold in every international event. That goes for Jax as well. Hopefully they both stay healthy. At the end of the day, wherever they choose to attend college, shouldn't be a cause to lose sleep for any of us.

I have a harder time believing they can offer such a largesse. And people being what they are, how do you think that plays with the rest of the team? How about the football and basketball teams that actually generate the big bucks. Can you see that 6-4 Quarterback with the rifle for an arm and a 4.5 40 saying -I want what the wrestler got? How about the 6-9 forward who hits threes with a swoosh of the net more often than not?

If and I say if such a deal is true; it should be public knowledge. Let's not forget, colleges have their grubby mitts in our pockets and that's especially true with state schools. Please don't tell me about how sports moneys are separate or I'm going to lecture you on fungibility and nobody wants that.

Last summer I took a CPE for my accounting license of NIL. Two things they said: NIL isn't "pay for play" and it's in a state of flux. I guess we know what changed.

Let the kid in Norman's parents' scrimping and saving-struggling to pay his or her tuition know about it so they can reign hell on their state politicians.

True. What I meant was: he technically doesn't get the extra year until after his original RS SR year. At that time he might choose to take it, or he might choose to go straight to freestyle. Selfishly I hope he takes it.

Perry lost to Bassett's backup who got TF by Bo in the finals
This is true but misleading. Perry lost 2-1 in rideouts to Jackson Butler, who last year was regional champ and placed at states. This year he got squeezed out of the lineup by Herring and Bassett.

It was an upset. Perry should consistently beat Butler. But that's no scrub.

Bigger point is still true, Perry has not shown the same potential as Bassett so far.

This just doesn't seem plausible.

Charter flights run about $5k/hour. Johnstown to Stilly is about 3 hrs each way -- let's assume that's a good average for all competitions (i.e, CKLV and WVU balance each other out). 14 duals + CKLV + B12s + NCAAs --> $500k/year.

That assumes: a charter service based out of Western PA (one out of DFW or OK would be double); charges include aircrew pre-flight time; the Bassetts pay for their own hotels, ground transportation, meals, incidentals, etc.; and Bo does not compete in any Opens.

Note that this would be around 100 flight hrs/year. James Franklin has logged 396 flight hrs on charters in 10 years.

Let me actually clear the air on the true reason I feel the way I do about this recruitment:

I hate Iowa.
