1. Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl take the top 4 teams for the playoff.
2. Rose Bowl is guaranteed to get a B1G team and a Pac-12 team.
3. Ditto, Sugar Bowl is guaranteed to get a SEC team and a Big XII team.
4. Orange Bowl is guaranteed to get an ACC team.
5. For their 2nd pick, Orange Bowl now gets the highest-ranked team (after all of the above selections have occurred) among Notre Dame (LOL), the SEC, and the Big Ten.
6. Cotton Bowl this year will have the non-Power 5 team vs. an at-large team (which could theoretically be from the Big Ten).
7. After this, the Big Ten fills their "Tier One Bowl Games." The Outback and Holiday Bowls are Tier One Bowl Games. The Citrus Bowl is a Tier One Bowl Game ONLY if the Orange does not select a Big Ten team (in that instance, the Citrus gets an ACC team).
8. The Big Ten has said they will do their best to prevent repeat teams in Bowl Games. E.G., sending 5 teams to the Holiday Bowl over 6 years, and ditto for the Citrus and Outback Bowls.

The Rose, Orange and Cotton Bowls aren't impossible for us. But we'd need to win out while also getting significant help elsewhere.
The "Tier One Bowl Games" seem more realistic.
Nebraska and Wisconsin have played in the last two Holiday Bowls. If we're on "Tier One" with only those 2 schools --- we might be in line for San Diego.
If Iowa gets on "Tier One", I'd guess they go to San Diego and we go to Florida. The Holiday would probably be biased toward a Western school while the Florida Bowls would probably prefer an eastern school (us).
