I totally agree with what you are saying but would quibble with TCU is “in regardless”. If USC wins and TCU loses, I think tOSU likely takes the TCU spot in the CFP - though the committee could go either way
Does Michigan beat TCU by 3 scores? I think soI think an undefeated regular season should mean more than OSU lurking in the weeds. Had they lost by 3 to Michigan, I could feel their pain. They lost by 22 or something the last week of the year (aka no time to improve).

I guess were going to find out, don't see TCU or USC losing this week.Does Michigan beat TCU by 3 scores? I think so
I don't see why 2 losses matter. When we had 2 losses we should have been in over Washington. I think they committee has learned from that.I don't think that's the rational to use. Otherwise, why not call Vegas and let them set the top 4 based on betting favorites?
Heck, Bama is probably a betting favorite over everyone but UGA today. I don't think that means, with 2 losses, they deserve a playoff spot.
Yeah, I don't necessarily either--Utah did beat USC already though and K-State had a big halftime lead against TCU the first time they played so it's definitely not impossible.I guess were going to find out, don't see TCU or USC losing this week.
The conference would get millions of dollars less of they did that. For that reason, I bet tye answer is no....and the saga of the foolish CFP and meaningless NY 6 rolls on.
Could a team possibly decline an NY6 bowl and accept another outside the NY6 if offered?
The buffer of weeks past is gone. UT and Bama are going to be separated by one spot with identical records and UT having the H2H. UT should come out in front in that situation using logic from committees past.I mean, anything is possible. Saban's already pushing Bama hard for the playoffs. If they're 6 on Tuesday it gets interesting.
I don’t have a problem with TCU going in over tOSU with a loss (I’d prefer it actually) but I just don’t think it’s a given that TCU is in regardless of their outcome. I would agree that Georgia and Michigan are in regardless of this weekend’s results.I think an undefeated regular season should mean more than OSU lurking in the weeds. But Hooker is injured...if he wasn't I'd agreeThe buffer of weeks past is gone. UT and Bama are going to be separated by one spot with identical records and UT having the H2H. UT should come out in front in that situation using logic from committees past.
Me either but last night they did say that USCs road to the rose was UCLA, ND, and Utah in three weeks.I guess were going to find out, don't see TCU or USC losing this week.

Like I said--I just want to see TCU and USC lose to see chaos.

Scenario no one mentioned--if Purdue beats Michigan that takes away another spot in the NY6
f Purdue beats Michigan, I'd probably be OK with pulling Michigan from the playoff. If Purdue beats Michigan, I'd probably be OK with pulling Michigan from the playoff.
Where do you think Purdue lands this week to promote that game? 20-25 is possible.
I don't think they're ranked but maybe 24/25If Purdue beats Michigan, I'd probably be OK with pulling Michigan from the playoff.

I wonder if any of the three 8-4 west schools make the top 25. Illinois is pretty damn good as they nearly took UM down.If Purdue beats Michigan, I'd probably be OK with pulling Michigan from the playoff.

Cincinnati and Louisville are the only teams that definitely fall out of the rankings--we'll see about Ole Miss but South Carolina is going to definitely be ranked and I think Miss State will be as well. Boise State, Illinois and UTSA should be ranked before Purdue based on what the committee has done this year.
Curious to see what they do from 19 down. UNC shouldn't be ranked but will be

I would think Purdue has the best chance to be ranked this week since the committee seems to like to promote the CCGs other things being equal. If any get ranked, it's gotta be Purdue. Wins over Minnesota and Illinois. Then there is the promotion of the ccg.
I'm not saying Purdue is good, but you can't argue any other West team over them.
That part is the same. But, should either UGA or UM lose, they will have played other P5 team(s) with 1/2 losses. TCU will have had 2 games against a 3-loss P5 team if they lose. That isn’t the same.….TCU has done exactly what both UGA and Michigan have: undefeated regular season in a P5 conference.
Why would you say Illinois deserves ranked over Purdue? Same record, Purdue won h2h.
I know I will be rooting for USC and TCU to keep the The Ohio State out of the playoff.
Me too...but only if we get the NY6 Cotton bid regardless.
If not, then the Bucks getting into the playoffs is a price I'm willing to pay in exchange for an NY6 bowl (Rose).
I don't think Boise or UTSA are good but they have the win total and are likely going to be conference champsThe committee ranked UVA a few seasons ago prior to the ccg with Clemson then kept them ranked after the loss for the bowl vs Florida.
Why would you say Illinois deserves ranked over Purdue? Same record, Purdue won h2h.
UTSA? Losses to Texas and Houston. No P5 wins. 20 teams go 12-0 against that schedule.
Boise? Losses to BYU and Oregon State with no P5 wins. Nah. Terrible resume.
Yes, it would be better to play the SEC team--if we lose it's nothing--if we win "we beat an SEC team"
If we play Tulane and lose it's BAD. If we win "okay you beat a G5" team
I won't be saying anything about the bowls because there's only 3 games left that matter. It's a scrimmage. But if you're one of those people that focus on bowl success like it's still the mid 80s then, yes, generally speaking people will value a win over Ole Miss/Miss State/LSU over Tulane. That's just reality.Oh dear God, one month out and Lando is already warming up his Purdue act for use in an upcoming bowl.
Dude, no, it would not be better to play a 4-loss SEC team in the Citrus Bowl. It would be much better to play a likely top-15 (or better) 2-loss Tulane team in an NY6 bowl.
We win the Citrus, the line would be "okay, you beat a 4-loss team." And you'd be leading the chorus.
For prestige and recruiting the ny6 games still have some benefits and how are the bowls going to work with the new larger playoff format...and the saga of the foolish CFP and meaningless NY 6 rolls on.
Could a team possibly decline an NY6 bowl and accept another outside the NY6 if offered?
I should have put rhetorical.. but maybe for Notre Dame!
Maybe just forget the bowls and play Pitt at PSU for the pennsylvania championshipPSU versus Tulane is an awful draw for us. I’d rather not be in the NY6 and play Clemson Oregon or LSU.
We haven’t had a good bowl game in quite a while. Games like Memphis and Kentucky.
It’s a no win situation. If we win and we were just expected to. We lose and all hell breaks out about us being over rated
Well glad he is going to bat for the conference that’s a good thing regardless if he believes it or notMeanwhile, Kevin Warren lobbies for Ohio State to make the playoff regardless. Link below.
Kevin says yesterday's game is a statement on "how strong Big-10 football is." Gag.
Sorry, Kevin. Not gonna happen unless USC or TCU loses their conference championship game.
But it does put us in a no-lose position: The Bucks get denied and the howls of outrage from the Big-10 front office will be sweet to hear; or the Bucks get in, and we go to the Rose Bowl.
Warren: 'Without a doubt' OSU deserves CFP bid

Again, I won't say a word win or lose. I expect a lot of our players to sit out as well as they know it's meaningless.
Well glad he is going to bat for the conference that’s a good thing regardless if he believes it or not
You can play for pride but in grand scheme of things they're meaningless because there's a legit playoff finally which is why it needs to expand much further so teams are playing game with actual meaning.Anytime you step on the field, it's not "meaningless." Every game counts, to include the bowl games. Yeah, they've lost some luster, but a W would still a very nice way to end a successful season on a high note and a good springboard to next year.
There's no such thing as a meaningless win, Lando, much less a meaningless NY6 win.
If someone else was 11-1 with only a loss to Michigan I'd expect the same--why wouldn't he? He's not an idiot. It's just easier to sell with it being Ohio StateCall me cynical, but I think he's more going to bat for the Big-2 than the Big-10.
Yes wonder if he would make the effort for any of the little guysCall me cynical, but I think he's more going to bat for the Big-2 than the Big-10.
Cotton versus Tulane.
He says only an LSU upset of Georgia might knock that off track.
His Playoff 4: Georgia, Michigan, TCU, USC...in that order. (Sorry, Psugo.)

While your last sentence is VERY true, I prefer the match-up vs. Tulane for the following reasons...PSU versus Tulane is an awful draw for us. I’d rather not be in the NY6 and play Clemson Oregon or LSU.
