Brands at their finest

37 Big Ten titles to your 6. Soon to be our 25th NCAA Wrestling Championship since 1975. Say what you want, WE ARE WRESTLING!!!!!!!
Please stop. In the last 20 years (since 2001), Minnesota has won as many team titles at Iowa, 3. If Iowa wins this year (they should), that will be 4 titles, which ties Oklahoma State.

No doubt Iowa has a great history in wrestling, only problem is the heart of its history occurred before any possible recruits were even born. In other words, it is ancient history. By the way, Oklahoma State has better ancient history than Iowa.

Look at it this way, Dan Gable, the heart of Iowa wrestling success has been out of coaching longer than he actually coached. Like I said, ancient history.

If Iowa wins the title this year, enjoy it, the extremely young Nittany Lions team will make leaps and bounds improvement with a full season next year, where as many of the Iowa wrestlers being a senior dominated team, will not improve very much. Its just the nature of improvement.

Unfortunately for you, ALOT of 5-18 year olds dont see things the same way us old farts do. And since that's the age group from which RECRUITS eventually come from, I'm willing to bet Cael and his staff are perfectly happy with the perceptions of each age group (old and young).

Did you come up with that all on your own? Impressive

“You get what you earn.” Where have I heard that before?
That quote was bumped out of the top 5 great wrestling quotes as"YOU GOT THE (POLISH?) CORNER OVER THERE" and "YOU GUYS LOVE POLITICIANS" moved into 4 and 5.
#1 you got a plan or something?
#2 a tie between oranges and #eatitturk
#3 a Cael smirk that was almost audible

And then you look at the past 2 decades, Iowa 3 NCAA titles, PSU 8. Even if you grab one this year, it's still 8 - 4 over the previous 2 decades.

I'm Blue and White all the way, but count me in as a fan of the Brands brothers. When you are at the age where watching wrestling is your only option, you're really there for the entertainment. And when it comes to pure entertainment, it's hard to find any coaches who do it better than T&T!

Seriously folks.......can we agree that the great programs are ...in fact.....the great programs. Iowa. Oklahoma State. And now Penn State are at the top. Ohio State has been great recently. Cornell is really strong. NC State, Virginia Tech, and Michigan are worthy contenders with Arizona State and a few others coming along. Can we also agree that many fans of said Colleges love to diminish the achievements of their strongest rivals? Can we all agree that the most rational fans appreciate the quality of their competitors and realize that the more quality rivals there are.....the better for the sport. So I am rooting for PITT and Virginia and Michigan State and Oklahoma and Northern Iowa and even Rutgers and others to keep getting better and making MORE duals MORE interesting and competitive. That equals more fans = More money = better product = better quality of USA wrestlers. It is a win, win and win situation. When you include the awesome potential of our women's wrestling.......it really becomes clear.......Crystal Clear.....we all love our teams.....but improving by expansion and more fan involvement and...as a result...more attention/appreciation which = more money and support is the best end result. So.....have fun busting chops and claiming bragging rights but let us keep the eye on the prize(s). A sport like this NEEDS support from all fans. Hell.....the Olympics considered banning wrestling outright. They reduced the weight classes. It will not fix itself without fan's interest and fan's united support. Surely support yours schools.....but support the product at least as much. Tearing down coaches, wrestlers or programs does nothing positive in the long run. Praise competitors, Competition and give credit when due. More Praise. More Competitions and more positive coverage should be the goal of all involved. Make it So

I think it would be great for wrestling to have 20 perennially strong programs chasing Penn State.

Back to the OP about the public behavior of coaches, it’s interesting what fans and athletes alike will tolerate and even embrace as laudable from coaches and other leaders within a sports program as long as the program is successful. Behaviors that are otherwise cringe-worthy (or worse) in any other context are permitted in the high pressure, high stakes world of competitive sports. Miscreant coaches are often enabled by administrators who are beguiled by the coach’s “brilliance” on the court/field/mat and the financial benefits that follow.

One good example of this is seen in USA Gymnastics. For years, abusive, predatory, and degenerate coaches and team doctors flourished in a system that prized success above the health and safety of teen and pre-teen girls. Hundreds if not thousands of those girls were manipulated into believing Larry Nassar’s daily invasive “therapeutic treatments” were not the sexual assaults that would have been obvious in any other context.

Thousands were physically and verbally abused on a daily basis by John Geddert while he was the USA Olympics gymnastics coach and running his USOC sanctioned elite private training center. Same with Bela and Martha Karolyi. Those who knew better turned a blind eye or ignored outcries because their juggernaut program was too big to fail. Even parents tolerated the nonsense they saw as the price of admission to the super elite level of the sport.

Underscoring how such aberrant behavior can become normalized and even institutionalized, many of Nassar’s victims initially defended him against accusations of sexual abuse. Some who themselves had been sexually assaulted by Nassar publicly declared that he was a great doctor who only did what was best for the program before they understood the deception perpetrated against them.

So, yeah, alarm bells go off for me when I see coaches misbehaving in public without a peep from those with the power to stop it. Fans who praise or rationalize such behavior help perpetuate the problem IMO. Cringey behavior is no less cringey just because it comes from a high-profile coach. And even a seemingly small crack in a dam can portend deeper problems. Catch it and fix it while it’s still small.

Tom is a great coach and conducts himself well IMO. Terry is a great coach who acts like an idiot and lacks personal skills, but has great technical knowledge. Everyone I know that has contact with those two likes Tom better, but Terry is good at what he does developing lightweight hammers.

Which brother was the one asking his wrestler to toss him after the big win? I felt that the young man was put in a no win situation having to react to a very strange request from his coach.

Oh my...so happy to see you over here. Have a favor to ask... If one of you blue collar... roll up your sleeves types steps out of line here and hurts my feelings could you bellyache and cry to the moderator to silence (ban) them for me? I only ask because I know you whiney HR p*****s have experience with that type of stuff and to be honest I don't want to do it myself because it would be quite embarrassing..
I can't speak for anyone else but I have never notified a moderator about anything, ever. As far as you calling us pussies, hahahaha, I'd be your huckleberry.

It is funny that you left out the 6 year run just before your 20 year span.
No one you have will beat Spencer at 125 no one you have will beat Eirman at 141 no one you have will beat Kaleb at 157 no one you have will beat Alex at 165 no one you have will beat Mike at 174 no one you have will beat Warner at 197 and no one you have, not even your savior Kerk will beat Big Tony. The only and I mean only weight where you guys will score considerable more points than us is 184.
Just accept finishing 2nd this year and next. It's just the way it is.

I don't deny that PSU has been dominant lately. The problem is that PSU fans try to deny that Iowa has been the most dominant program for the last 36 years.

We don’t deny it, we just don’t care. It is history, and not such recent history. There is nothing wrong with us enjoying winning 8 of the last 9. That covers the span that most college guys were in middle school and high school. It is more significant to what is happening today, next season and the upcoming decade than what happened more than a decade ago. Dan Gable is no longer the coach. The current dominant coach presides in PA, like the top high school talent. Nothing wrong with enjoying the recent past and looking forward to the future.

Time for someone to take the high road. Dude has 12 posts in this thread, and his position isn't wrong, though claiming last year's championship is a questionable call. Y'all are just being played.

Let our wrestling do the talking, Penn State will be back on top.

You gotta win it first cuzz!! You can't talk about it without earning it. On ething we can count on the Iowa program over the past decade is that the poison dwarfs screw the pooch like Alex Marinelli, Austin DeSanto, Sam Stoll, Max Murin, Alex Kemmer at the BIG DANCE!!! LOL!!! That is why Cael has owned you for the past decade and will continue to until he decides to retire with 10 more NC's than Gable could muster! The worst possible thing happened for Iowa when Cael took over at PSU. He awoke the sleeping giant!! You can't that genie back in the bottle NOW!!! We may have a down year here and there due to injuries but that is it. You see the young guns that we have now are all killers and we have two more monsters coming in next year that your seven year guys can barely take now!! You don't have anywhere near the firepower that we have and you know it. You have to face reality that we are going on another 10 year run of crazy dominance and you MUST ACCEPT your fate as our WHIPPING BOY!!!

EAT IT CHILDREN OF THE CORN!!! You have NO ANSWER FOR CAEL!!!!

I'm actually upset at this post. Comparing Brands talking shit during a combat sport and Larry Nassar ain't even the same freaking planet.

I'll be honest, I quit trying to keep track of which one is which years ago and just started seeing them as one. I know it's not fair to the one that refrains from acting like an idiot but so be it....
