I'm sixty and bullying might be worse now, but the cause isn't what people think. I'd blame anti bullying programs which teach young psychos how to be better bullies. Also we have the issue if your child retaliates when struck and defends themselves, they might be deemed the aggressor.
haha, this reminds me of some lines in the great 1987 Ice-T song Squeeze the Trigger:

"Violence erupts at a Los Angeles hip-hop concert. Rap music blamed for violence

Violence erupts at a New York hockey game. Hockey blamed for violence

Violence breaks out at a European soccer game. Soccer blamed for violence

Violence breaks out at a nuclear peace rally. Peace blamed for violence."

Danielle from American Pickers seems like a cool girl to hang with. Mike and Frank are c*cks tho...
What about Jim from American Pickers?

We had a class for special ed students. All on their own, nothing pissed me off more than someone bullying or making fun of them. Although was great to see someone get the snot kicked out of them by one of these kids when they finally had the guts to go in the alley for a fight. They are strong as a horse and most dont feel pain the way we do.
For those on the west shore, our state rep is Mike Regan. In high school a guy was picking on a special needs student in the Cedar Cliff cafeteria. Mike stepped in and took him out to the courtyard and gave him an ass kicking. I think that Mike was a golden gloves boxer as a kid. He became a US Marshall before getting into politics. You can disagree with his politics, but he's a good person.

Danielle and Mike picked a house in my town. Word was TV did not do Danielle justice. Mike was said to be a nice guy and very gracious with his time.
I was just kidding about Mike and Frank. They've been to johnstown area 3 times. Heard nothing but good things about them from people who met them. Danielle I met at an Altoona Curve game of all places. She was there signing autographs. Thought she was much prettier in person.

West Shore! I had totally forgotten that idiom referring to the West side of the Susquehanna! Only people from the Harrisburg area know what it actually means. I have to admit, you guys sure had some nice looking girls to chase after over there.

I am glad I had older brothers in school a lot of bullying went on in my high school after the bullies found out my last name they didn't bother me as I was small when I was in school!

The East shore, West shore thing is still a major part of this area. People act like they're driving to another state when they go the the other side.

I don’t cringe when athletes talk religion. I cringe when they can only talk about religion and nothing else and bring it in as an answer to questions to the point that they don’t answer the question.

Reporter: Pitcher A has a great curve ball and then sun is straight away in centerfield during this day game which might make it hard to pick up the spin. How are you going to adjust?

What hitter A is doing: Instead of standing with my back foot on the back line of the batter’s box, I am going to move forward with my front foot on the front line of the batter’s box to try and make contact with the ball a little closer to its break point.

What hitter A answers: I prayed on it last night and God will give me the answer, as he will give to anyone that accepts Jesus in their life. He will provide you the answers in your life too if you pray and ask him for help. It is through his grace that this beautiful sun shines today.

Next question, rinse and repeat. Blah, blah, blah. I find them boring drones as individuals and pretty much tune them out almost immediately. Religion is important but you are allowed to have other interests in life.
This sort of illustrates the point. These guys are basically preaching to the choir while others don’t even listen. Like just about everything else in life, moderation is the key. Vary your message if you want to reach people. Monotony gets people to tune out and ignore everything you are saying.

Some will hear and some won’t. There are a ton of young men and women who do hear what the people that they look up to in the sport are saying… that’s who it’s for. If you aren’t truly living for Christ those things will eventually sort themselves out but Christ will work through that person in the same way he does a truly pious believer. It’s not our job to decide how it will be accepted or who it will make comfortable.… it’s our job to spread those seeds and be the salt and light. Never dim the light

Never dim the light and eventually you blind the people you are trying to shine it on. Boring people to the point that they know what you are going to say before you say it kills the message. Wrestlers can actually talk about just wrestling once in a while. But what do I know, the statistics on religion show preaching to the choir is working great, so why change?

We’re all works in progress. They’ll learn to better deliver their testimony but no… you don’t ever dim your light (if it genuine in faith and love for Christ).

As Paul said
“For am I now trying to persuade people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬

Some will hear and some won’t. It’s never been about pleasing people.

Ok, here’s something to consider. What do you think Peter or Paul would say if they were in the same situation as AB?

Tough position to judge. I mainly commented because they pulled Snyder into it. I’m honestly not a very big fan of AB. It doesn’t feel as genuine imo. That said… Paul wouldn’t have been distracted by something like wrestling in the first place. He had a God delivered purpose and lived fully within Gods will (or as close to it as any true man ever has imo). But to answer your question… Paul tied everything to Christ. The anointment on his life and the Holy Spirit working through him allowed him to reach multitudes but let’s not act like it was all peachy. He was stoned to death, beaten, imprisoned, exiled and eventually beheaded for the brightness of his light and his message of the Gospel

I agree with what you say regarding Paul, but it’s also important to remember that something absolutely extraordinary happened to convert him to his belief in Christ. Personally, I think it’s exactly what is described in the Book of Acts.

My point here is that who knows what happened to AB earlier in his life. I’ve never heard his testimony, but maybe something happened that totally cemented his belief. I’m certainly not one to question his sincerity.

A few weeks ago, I listened to a pastor give a sermon where he described a true miracle that occurred because of a prayer that he had said to benefit a young girl who had a severe skin condition. (She was healed, instantly.) It had a huge effect on his faith and commitment to Christ. Not everyone is blessed with those kind of experiences, but I’m certainly happy for those who are.

Absolutely. As I alluded to, whether I’m personally a huge fan of AB or not… I fully support him sharing his faith like he does.

I mean, who cares?

I’m not even a little bit religious but I also don’t care when AB and Carr and co talk about Jesus.

I, personally, don’t have any interest. But they’re standing behind something they strongly believe in.

As for winning over fans, I just don’t think it matters to them. Do they want to have a lot of fans? Sure. But first and foremost they want to be very religious and very good wrestlers. If that also comes with a large amount of fans, then great.

I also think it’s rich given how overtly religious most of the Iranian and Russian wrestlers are, it’s just different religion they’re pushing.

He was stoned to death, beaten, imprisoned, exiled, and eventually beheaded??

Isn't that somewhat of an overkill??

to me, my fandom has to do with shared experiences. i'm a fan of my trout because we're both eagles fans; i'm a fan of john urschel because we're both math majors; i'm a fan of penn state sports because the students live in the same places i lived and eat at the same places i ate. i can see myself in them, so i want them to succeed.

if someone only talks about things that i have no experience with, it makes it harder for me to connect with them. it's perfectly fair for them to not care about that one iota, that's their prerogative. but it's also fair for me to stop watching their interviews. personally, i wouldn't then shout that out to the world, but i understand that twitter users are usually looking for engagement more than anything else.

I'm not religious at all. My scientific mind finds it preposterous that there is literally a magic wizard who created the universe and is living in the sky to judge people. I mean, if people want to belong to a church because they are seeking a community that brings together like-minded people and they enjoy the tribal rituals associated with it, that's fine. Humans have always been social animals so it's not surprising that communities like this exist and are popular. Where you lose me is when you take it literally instead of as a kind of shared folklore that brings you together even though you understand it's not literally real.

With that said, I can easily ignore 99% of athletes' "Praise Jesus, Jesus gave me strength and taught me an ankle pick" type interviews, but the one that really rubs me the wrong way is where Brooks started bashing other religions as false (as if his is actually real) during the 2023 post-nationals interview. The ugly side of religion is that too many people take theirs so literally that they will resort to actual violence against people who believe in a slightly different version of the same folklore. I understand that Brooks never personally advocated violence in any way in his speech, but it is that attitude in the wrong type of person that has led to countless wars and killing over the centuries, so it makes me uneasy when people take even the rhetoric to that extreme. Your version of the folklore isn't the "right" one, none of them are.

So what you're saying is Aaron isn't genuine because Paul wasn't distracted by wrestling?

lol not at all. As I said, I fully support him sharing his faith.

Honestly, I’m in the wrong for saying anything… I don’t know the man. The intent of my point was really that it’s easier to take it from Carr or Snyder than it is AB, for me. There is just such a bravado that comes with AB. And I’ll admit that my reasoning could be slightly swayed by recent events and him being so close with CStar who is a pure renegade

Well keep in mind that any severe trouncing of Ok State by Penn State next year will include CStar but not AB. 😁

lol Thanks for the heads up… I’ll start prepping. I also don’t want yall to think I’m trying to single out PSU guys. I’m a huge fan of most of the guys who have came out from under Cael. Starting with Bo there seemed to be a bit of culture shift that lends itself to the cockiness of a blueblood. AB and Starocci are in the vein. Easy to love if they are yours but hard for the outside world to handle

Everyone weight your beliefs on the evidence available. Problem solved.

Oh, you mean like the "evidence" that has led to scientific consensus on a wide range of topics in one generation only to be discarded as junk science the next generation?

Turns out perfectly reasonable and sincere humans define "evidence" differently and pick and choose the data points that they think best support their viewpoint and discredit the next guy's.

I am fine with anyone's belief......until it comes to football. Every single game-ending field goal has many praying on both sides. Half are always crushed. Does the Almighty really push those attempts wide right? Does he/she know who I bet on? It is either BS or he/she watches too much football. Too funny. Now, lets get back to wrestling :)
