A new wrestling writer for The Lantern (another Ross, gee thanks! ;) put up this article with some interesting quotes about the buckeye lineup from Tom Ryan & J Jaggers. Sounds like they will definitely be wrestling three True Freshmen this season: Ke-Shawn Hayes (141), Myles Martin & Kollin Moore.

Ryan:
Ryan tabbed Ke-Shawn Hayes, Myles Martin and Kollin Moore as three freshmen to watch this season. “For us to be back on top and to stay on top, we’ll need lots of points from those guys,” Ryan said. “And they’re all capable of it.”

Jaggers:
Jaggers also singled out Hayes and Martin as wrestlers who could make some noise in the upcoming season.
“They are 100 percent the guys that we thought they were going to be when we recruited them.” Jaggers said. “They have looked phenomenal, and they’re just into it. They seem to fit our culture and what we’re looking to do.”

174 - 197 is going to be interesting. They've got Myles Martin, Kenny Courts, Mark Martin & Kollin Moore. Last year's boards indicated Mark Martin wasn't happy with his continued cut to 174 (preferred 184), so there was speculation he might pull a Heflin and 'yeah, I'm gonna get big' and go 197. Maybe he & Moore will battle for Snyder's vacated spot. In any event, I'm really liking brutus' follow-up lineup to their title year:

125 NaTo
133 JDJ
141 Ke-Shawn
149 Hunter
157 Micah Jordan
165 Bo Jordan
174 Myles Martin
184 Kenny Courts
197 Moore or Mark Martin
285 Tavanello or Haines

That's a lot of youthful studs peppered with a few grizzled vets. You know what's even more fun? Looking at our lineup against it. Let's look again:

125 Nico could very well be consistently better than NaTo, the returning champ
133 JDJ probably has advantage over Conaway in the Senior Category
141 Gulibon > Ke-Shawn? Probably, at this point
149 Hunter vs zPain doesn't happen til Feb, when everybody will know how Hunter's two repaired elbows are
157 Micah sounds like a real stud. But our new stud is probably quite studlier
165 Pray4Hammond/Rasheed/Beitz
174 Nickal vs Myles: another youth battle I think we're superior in
184 Courts vs McCutcheon. That R12 come from ahead OT loss still stings--we'd a placed 4th instead on that win alone. Bet McCutcheon knows that and fo reals. Courts is 2-0 against him though.
197 Smack vs Moore or Martin: ahahahhahahahah
285 Nevills vs Tavanello or, far more dramatic Haines. No idea yet who wins this round robin.

We just match up with them very well. Hunter, NaTo & BoJo are their best wrestlers. But we counter with zPain, Nico & Smack. I mean, I love it. Look around the country at these beastly lineups (Va Tech, brutus, OkSt, Iowa) and, H2H, we stack up super well. It's gonna be a real fun year.

In my opinion, this is our best dual meet team...ever. We should match up well against everyone.

Anyone else notice the similarities between the Brutus-Rufus fight and the first Zain-Stieber match? Especially their facial expressions when Zain first threw in legs. One looks ultra-intense, almost possessed, ready to rip his opponent's head off. The other has that goofy, slack-jawed, blank look on his face -- as if he just got off a long bus ride, has a touch of the flu, didn't see this coming, and is looking at an average official to stop it.

Uncanny resemblance.

HAHAHAHA. Holy sh1t

What surprises me the most here is the Ke'Shawn Hayes mention. It was reported during his recruitment Hayes either required or demanded a redshirt season as part of his recruitment signature, to which Tom Ryan agreed. Supposedly...

With Hayes at 141, and Stieber at 149, this lineup squeezes out a pretty interesting wrestler relative Tom Ryan who was expected to have mat time this year... Jake Ryan, Tom Ryan's son.

Maybe Jake begins the season at 149 if Hunter isn't ready to begin the season? If Hayes redshirted, this would be the ideal year for Jake Ryan to get some run..

NickLex316,

Ke-Shawn Hayes didn't "demand" a redshirt season, he informed the coaches that he was looking to attend a school that would allow him to redshirt. A LOT of incoming freshmen are looking to redshirt, so being upfront about what an individual is looking for in a program is the appropriate way to handle the situation.

I don't know if Hayes will redshirt this year or not but I would expect (like a lot of wrestlers), that'll he'll be on campus for 5 years.

If Hunter comes back at Full strength, That will be a very tough lineup. If Snyder was in it, I would be worried however without him we are definite favorites in my opinion. I can't wait!! Myles Martin V. Nickal is the match I most want to see....Myles is a STUD, So is Nickal, but of all the matches I have no clue how it could turn out as they both have very little common opponents or College Mat time...This match is the key with the lineup you project. The awesome thing about this is both teams have very young overall teams....this is going to be a Blood Bath for a few years at least!!

Thanks..lol Why did I not find this when I looked...lol

Ignore my Post:)

Edit--Hope the Match this year ends just like that

Thanks for posting this video again El Jefe. This video was used in reference here in the Wrestling Room to ask why anyone would want to go upper body with Bo Nickal... and then references were made to him having Q's skill using his upper body to throw guys.
