Not that big of a deal. Berger was volunteer assistant, but left to train with Stanford RTC.
Tom can out-recruit most. And the guys he has coming in and committed are still blue-chippers.

It's honestly a little telling that so many people didn't know. It's been a few years now since that program was relevant and it's hard to say they're trending upwards.
Unfortunately, the answer to "what's going on in Columbus" is pretty much nothing.
Ohio State had some bad evaluations recently in recruiting, quite a few kids that were hyped up that either were probably overrated or just were done with wrestling before they even got there.

4. Gavin Hoffman
Echemendia is still new to folkstyle, way too early to give up on him. Snyder leaving them definitely hurt especially since him and Kerkvliet were a package deal.
Kharchla got hurt last year but he'll definitely be a good one. Many had him as a potential champ last year. Paddy should definitely be good as well. They are definitely in the Top 2 or maybe lead for both Jesse Mendez and Nic Bouzakis at this point and got Nick Feldman. Tom Ryan said he's really taking a folk focus and hired Logan to be a designated mat wrestling teacher. Ohio State will be back.
