Fantastic day 1 for the USA!

McHenry and Arujau are going for gold, Warner and Carr are going for bronze. Both Warner and Carr lost on criteria, and it seemed like neither was aware that they didn't hold criteria.

Great great start for the team though. Finals are supposed to be around 10am EST

Thanks for the update, Burnsie. I was trying to get it on flo, but couldn't do so. That's a bummer if 2 of our guys might have thought they had the criteria when they didn't!

McHenry is really fun to watch, I'd never seen him before.

Fell asleep before the two criteria losses but noticed on Twitter people suggesting that in the Warner match the criteria indicator flipped during the second period, meaning that Warner probably had a legit reason to think he was up. Can't think of any other sport where its athletes so often lose because they thought at the time they were winning.

They should get rid of criteria all together....then we'd get to enjoy matches like Suriano and Fix a couple years back...long and exciting.

Need to just go ahead and offer this McHenry dude. No worries about his frame.

Vito Arujau had to settle for silver after one of those int'l freestyle matches where unexplained points materialize from nowhere with less than thirty seconds remaining. I think the final score was 12-8, with multiple lead changes.

David Carr and Jacob Warner both won their bronze matches, Warner by tech.

Woke up early hoping to see Wittlake but he lost to Russia, got pinned even. Twitter consensus seems to be that the Russian will pull him back in. RBY lost a close one. Yianni D is in the quarters, got to see his last match on Flo. Quick tech involving four ankle pick takedowns.

Gable Stevenson into semis with a tech. Heinselman still alive in repachage.

Yianni into semis with a 10-0 tech. If he makes finals he eliminates Russia from team title contention. US right there still, everyone alive, Stevenson and YD one more match and into finals.

EDIT: Stevenson into finals, RBY eliminated. Yianni up in a few on Mat A.

Yianni with a nice semis win over the Japan kid he beat in last year's finals to reach that finals again. Stevenson also in the finals, Wittlake now wrestling back for bronze. Heinselman, RBY out.

EDIT: Wittlake wins by tech, needs one more to make the bronze match.

Wittlake up in five on Mat B. Correcting erroneous info from earlier re team race, Russia is slightly ahead of US and has three finalists I believe. If US wins out and Russia loses one (or two, not sure), I think we win cadet team title.

EDIT: Wittlake hangs on 6-5, will wrestle for bronze.

Wittlake with multiple ankle picks into laces. Sounds like he learned well from watching vids of his idol - a certain bald guy from Heber City, Utah

Press of the full court variety mayhaps?

Please Cael....Put the FULL COURT press on David Carr !!!!

Craziness. I think that loss by Russia leaves Gable Stevenson in the driver's seat here to win the US a team gold.

if flo posts this match take the time to watch for its entertainment value. You wont be disappointed.

may have just delivered team title

the BIG guy that came on the mat to hug GEO, got booted from the mat area earlier by the ref. that match got out of control way before the end. Ref was on an island unfortunately.

Russia will always be bullies until UWW takes a stand

Did Russia think they had a touch fall or what was he pissed about? He got a 4 point throw out of it.

What weight is Stevenson going in College..197 or Hwt ? Would love to land this young man....He is going to be special !!!! Is David Carr a Jr ? He will be at a higher weight in college if anything like his Dad !!!!

Yes, Carr is a Jr., currently ranked 1 by Flo at 152. Sorry, just realized you weren't talking Jr. year, my bad.

Also, on another thread one of the posters mentioned Stevenson probably moving TO HWT.

Read online that Iowa is hopeful to land Warner. Anyone know what schools are in the running to get him?
