Calling All Allar Critics

It's very logical you're comparing different people at different levels. Pro quarterbacks obviously are at a higher level than college quarterbacks. Drew Allar might not have the ability to succeed at the pros, it is possible this is his ceiling because he hasn't proved himself at the pro level yet. You cannot compare high school to college in college to the pros and dress and more conclusions.

You're the one that needs to crash course in logic, not me.
I didn’t say anything about Drew Allar in the pros. I said he is an excellent college quarterback on par with Collins and Blackledge at similar points in their careers. Again, I AM NOT comparing different people at different levels. I am comparing excellent quarterbacks to their peers, a perfectly logical and valid comparison. A course in logic may well not help you because apparently you can’t read.

Lastly, I don’t speak Joe Biden so I have no idea what this means:

“You cannot compare high school to college in college to the pros and dress and more conclusions.”

And again...no one said he didn't have a bad game. This is what I don't get. No one is saying that he did.
Allar goes no lower than the Giants. They need a QB. Daboll coached Allen and sees that upside. There's a reason it was confirmed that teams were contacting his agent. It wasn't out of boredm. They see the upside and want to untap it.

How does Allar improve next year with this supporting cast. He's losing the only reliable target he had. I like Reynolds and Dinkins but they combined aren't Warren.

Lando, Drew is not leaving for the NFL this year.

Whatever chance there was of that happening went by the boards on Thursday evening.

So you can continue to talk to hear yourself talk but the reality is that Allar will be our starting QB next season.

I'm aware--he's making a huge mistake and because he's loyal to a flaw. And Thursday had zero impact on anything. This insane belief that one game defines a person is crazy

I'm thrilled for me that he's our starter. It's just not in his best interest. He'll get to come back and have idiots bash him all year because they have no clue what they're seeing.

He's making a mistake--hopefully his agent convinces him that Franklin and AK are using him for their own good not his.

You have no idea how the underclasses men or the portal transfers will play next year but continue to pontificate all you want. By the way, still waiting for you to tell us which 5 star WRs who are playing at other schools Franklin should break the rules to contact their agents to try to persuade them to enter the portal and transfer to PSU.

I’m sure neither Allar, his family or agents give a royal rat’s you know what about whether you think he’s making a mistake by returning to Penn State next year. Tell me the agent who doesn’t look out for his client’s best interests and wouldn’t recommend that he turn pro if he thought it was appropriate.

You have a very good idea how they'll perform. They can exceed expectations but we knew going into this year it was Warren and then we were hoping Wallace and Fleming would be good--hope was futile.
There's no rules against contacting agents--again, you want me to list every WR? Do you not know who quality WRs are or what underclassmen have entered the draft? I don't understand why you're asking me to name names that you know. What exactly do you think the point is?

Who says his agent hasn't recommended REPEATEDLY that he enter the draft. Did you all even read the Browns thread?
Again, Allar is simply returning out of loyalty--nothing else--it's a mistake for HIM. Great for us.
Just because you're selfish and don't care about the players doesn't mean I have to agree.

Who knows what his agent is telling him, however, I’m sure his agent is making a nice cut from his NIL - so, hopefully he’s getting real, candid advice. However, it’s clear just watching his body language and performance on Thursday that he doesn’t have the maturity yet to be the face of an NFL franchise. He never settled into the game.

He improved a lot last year to this year, and I expect him to make a similar jump next year.

To be clear...you're saying NFL QBs don't show those emotions...wow
Last year everyone complained that he had no fire and didn't show emotion. Now he's apparently too emotional.
He won't have a jump next year with the people he's around. Period. You all will be bitching about the same things and not comprehending why.

I'm excited to have Drew back from the Final Four. The table is set for him and CJF to guide us to another deep playoff run.

These guys are glorified when they play well and win. Media and fan adulation galore. Plus they're now getting paid pretty good money. The flip side of that coin is owning up to bad games and bad performances.

Folks who complained about NIL and/or other additional forms of payments to players, other than schollies, would frequently cite the fact that the players were already "paid" with the cost of an education, food, boarding, training, etc. - all picked up by the school.

So wouldn't they already have been open to criticism, if your above commentary is legitimate?

This sentiment seems to be a recurring one expressed among folks currently criticizing players ... but it seems disingenuous, at best. Why not just criticize the player? It's OK. You don't have to attempt to justify your criticism and hide behind "well, they're being paid now." You seem small. Petty. Jealous.

Are you watching the Chargers game? Herbert is one of the premier quarterbacks in the NFL. He’s not having a good day.
Why don't you step aside and let PSU fans handle this? You already admitted you don't follow or support the program any longer. Go fawn over Lamar Chokeson, who luckily is being bailed out by Henry so far this year.

Greg Maddux is the greatest pitcher I've ever laid eyes on. His career record was 355-227.
Sometimes you don't have your best stuff. Bad games or performances happen, even for the best.
Yes they do, however is the bad game more the norm or an outlier ? The exception is not the rule. Because great players in the pros have had bad games, it does not mean an amateur that has a bad game will improve and get to the level where he will be able to perform in the pros.

No one is arguing he played a great game
That's the issue that issue here. It's the idiots that cant' comprehend he had a great season and all QBs miss throws and have off nights--even elite QBs.
We have a large segment of this board (probably 20%) that simply wanted Beau to start all year and don't comprehend what they're seeing on the field. See the idiotic argument he should have gotten the ball to Nick on the final pick of the game.

LOL... No, 20% of the board did not want Pribula to start. Idiotic comment.

Repeating yourself 1000 times doesn't make it true. Even if you believe you are the only person that understands football.

I'm not the only one nor have I said that. Reading is tough. If you and others could read I wouldn't need to always repeat myself.

I’m using this thread to apologize to Mr Drew Allar for being way too harsh with him in my thoughts and whatever venom I spewed on this board Thursday night. On Friday I watched the post-game press conference. He was on the stand. He took the questions like a man. He didn’t offer excuses. He felt horrible. He’s human. He seems like a genuine person.

He played a bad game. Very bad. But we all have days like that in all facets of our life.

So, Mr Drew Allar, I apologize to you. I wish you do come back for your senior year. I think it ultimately benefit your professional development and playing career. We are…

I respect that. Most of these knuckleheads are too blinded by anger to be so reasonable. Plus one of the more difficult things in life is to make a sincere apology.

In as much as I understand your point and agree Greg Maddux is the greatest pitcher of my time, there is much more to his resume than 355 - 227.

The real bummer about Allar's performance the other night was that the stage was set for him to shine. One can only hope he gets himself another opportunity like that.

Nicely put and good for you.

A lot of people were upset in the moment after the game. I was too.

But I've never criticized Drew with harshness or venom. In fact, I've tried to be balanced in my comments here. He had a bad game on Thursday evening, he's owned it, and he feels worse about it than any of us here.

With Beau gone, the success of our team next season rests in large part on Drew. It looks to me like he'll have a very good OL to work behind.

We had a great year but last losses are usually bitter. On the other hand, all it takes is one big win or one big season to turn the narrative on its head. Keep hope alive.

Drew Allar is a stud. He makes throws most QBs can’t make. He loves PSU, Franklin, and his teammates. However, he is not elite yet. He had a good season and showed he’s getter better. He was terrible against ND and yes our WRs suck, but it was not a performance an elite QB has. Allar and his parents made absolutely the right choice to have him come back and gain more experience. He’s struggled against good teams and needs to become more emotionally mature to not wilt in pressure situations. I’m a Giant fan and I would love if they took Allar as long as he’s not expected to play his rookie season and get eased in his 2nd year.
