Penn State should see what it would take to get him here $ wise.. The guy is a great young coach.
I hope he doesn't end up at Ohio State.

Mack has a Top 10 class coming into Xavier next year.

It is what it is --- Xavier is several tiers above us in the college hoops world. It's hard to imagine a coach (1) coming off an Elite 8 (or even more) run and (2) with a top recruiting class going DOWN a few tiers in the college basketball coaching world.

Mack is a Xavier alum. Would take a ton to get him out of Cincy. Rumored as a candidate for Indiana but highly doubt he'd even consider IU.

You'd have to offer Mack Calipari-type money to even return a phone call to area code 814!

I saw a tournament update on the tube this morning and the subject of Mack leaving for IU came up. The commentators mentioned that Mack was a Xavier alum and that his wife is from Cincinnati and based on their attachment to the area and his success with the team, felt he's not going anywhere regardless of the money or the program. Of course, anything could happen, but it's probably a long shot that he leaves for IU and an absolute pipe dream that he would abandon his current success for PSU.

It's not like Cale leaving Iowa State for PSU which already had a tradition in wrestling and sat in the epicenter for high school wrestling. Not so for our BB program.

Do you think James Franklin would leave Penn State to go coach at a school like Memphis, even if Memphis was willing to pay him $10M per year?

Exactly. I can see Archie Miller going to IU from Dayton if Alford doesn't leave UCLA. Archie, an NC State alum, wanted no part of the Wolpack job.

Chris Mack isn't leaving Xavier for Penn State.

If we're hiring another coach this time next season, it's going to be someone with Pat's profile. I.e. a young coach who has had success at a low-mid major school.

So Nathan Davis? [first!]

My guess would be that'd be closer to the type of candidate we'd pursue than Chris Mack. Maybe if we're really opening up our wallets here, then we can expect something different, but this is PSU basketball.

But Pat is still our coach and is getting next season. It just seems like it's the new flavor of the board to bring up coaches who have won a game in the NCAA Tournament.
