Clarion open

I have a bad feeling it's going to be yet another long year for us at 125.

Steen loses 8-3. Lewis was a good HS wrestler, but this is not a good result. Lewis was much better on feet.

Lewis wrestled 113 for Cedar Cliff last year, so we don't get to say Steen was undersized in this match.

Gotta think Campbell or Meredith will be starting early season duals.

Ok boys n girls I have to leave for the funeral. Keep posting updates.

Had a beautiful ankle pic to start the match that the ref stopped
Yeah, what happened there?
He should have scored on the next shot also. He had Lewis face planted and just needed to continue the turning while maintaining weight on Lewis' head. Once Lewis got his head up the scoring opportunity was gone.

There was alot of blood time in the steen match, the video feed is about 30 seconds behind the actual match time, so I think they were mistakenly stopping the video when the match stopped

Sure that wasn't just blood time? :)

Steen tried for two big moves at the end of the third. Result was giving up an escape and a takedown.
That was a bad beat. Steen was in scoring position twice when it was stopped for blood time. He missed two good scoring opportunities on takedowns. He’ll be fine. But he’ll likely be a redshirt this year anyway.

While all of these may be true, Steen wasn't facing Glory or Arujau. Lewis failed to get out of super regionals last year at 113. Kamdyn Williams (then a HS freshman) beat him 9-7. Kilkeary and Van Dee beat him. Nic Allison pinned him. Steen mustered a reversal + an escape.

Agree with Bordeaux, we're gonna need patience with Steen -- and that's OK, they can't all be Zain right out of the chute.

And we're gonna need someone who can at least hold their own with the Heinselmans and Schroders of the B10 and qualify for nationals this year. Steen needs to improve a lot, very quickly, to be that man.
