Coldest town in every state! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Bradford, a close second may be that stretch of 322 from St. College to Philipsburg on top of the mountain. I've hunted there years ago in the late muzzle loader season, it's brutal.

I've read about the Barrens. What I remember is that charcoal was removed in the 1800's. The ground lost its natural heat retaining elements. My deceased father-in-law was from Phillipsburg and he said Kane was the coldest place in Pa. I prefer topless decks in the Caribbean (with a good pair of shades).

For those of us with a few years under our belt, the coldest place in Pennsylvania was Parking Lot 80.
There were days when it reminded me of the scene in Doctor Zhivago when Yuri has the frozen snot crusted in his mustache and beard.
Man, the wind whipped across that lot!

There's a "frost pocket" out in the Barrens. I took a lot of field trips out there in my Penn State days for Forestry and WFS, Ornithology, etc. It was explained to me how it works but I couldn't relate it now with any concise explanation or sound basis in science. Has to do with cold air settling near the ground but I was only half-paying attention most of the time anyway. :D

I second the vote for parking lot 80, especially before all the new construction on that part of campus. Damn, the wind would whip across that lot in winter.

I have some memories of that from the late 70s--not good ones either....
