Don't know how many of you guys frequent the reddit college football board (its great, and I would highly recommend it) but one of the users over there has been producing these maps throughout the season.
Basically every FBS team starts the season with their allotted chunk of land, in other words all of the counties nearest to whatever that FBS program is. As the weeks go on, if your team wins, they absorb the territory of the team they beat. When a team is wiped from the map after a loss, they have the opportunity to win their way back on in the following weeks (though they will obviously have to build their empire from scratch).
Its a diversion but its really fun, and a great way to enjoy the competitiveness of the season from a feudal landowners perspective.
