While I do not like either of these teams, the linked article represents what good college rivalries look like.

Long gone are the days of Lion Shrine vigils to protect it from being painted orange by Syracuse fans the night before a game between them and us. That's when college rivalry was fun. Now it just seems to have turned into who can insult the other guy more.

Now? That suggests we did not have them before, but we did. From our

very founding in 1855, we have been BIG RIVALS. Sure, it wasn't always football. It was corn husking and apple picking at first, and then barrel rolling and cow patty chucking, but it's always been a RIVALRY.
 
We didn't realize it, but even in the womb, all we dreamt about was

Rutgers.
