I know most are Pens and Flyers fans on this board, but its been quite the run for the CBJ. Tying the Penguins record of 17 consecutive wins would be amazing. Pens had Hall of Famers on their roster. Not so for the CBJ (at least not yet).

It's still weird to think of the Columbus Blue Jackets as an NHL team.

CBJ have been irrelevant for the past 16 years. I'm excited because they are drawing attention from OSU.

Ohio State does everything in its powers to keep the Columbus professional sports team down. Ohio State will not participate in the NHL Winter Classic (NHL and CBJ want the game). When CBJ hosted the all star game a couple years ago, Ohio State scheduled the National Championship celebration the Saturday of All-Star weekend.

They will not make slight alterations to The Shoe, so it can host a USA soccer qualifier match. Mapfre Stadium is too small (20k) and with growing popularity its only a matter of time.

Didn't go so well for the Pens last time they did this. In fact, it went very bad in the playoffs.
DAMN YOU ISLANDERS!

Really amazing the way these teams in the East are playing this season. Lose just 5 games and fall 10 pts. behind the leaders.

As tempting as that will be to watch, US vs. Canada in gold medal game at World Juniors!

Side note...contrary to how a lot of fans feel about Torts, I've always thought the guy is a heck of a coach. He's won a Cup but almost seems like he got caught up in some organizations that had no identity or adequate talent to build a unique one. Columbus has some great hockey minds running the show in Davidson and Kekalainen. I was stunned when they fired Richards last year because so much of their problem seemed to be stemming from injuries They've had a plan though and they're pretty well stocked with good young talent.

Now the bad news - the best Pens team in their 50 year history rattled off that gold standard mark of 17 straight...but all anyone remembers is they underachieved in the playoffs :)

The modifications are not that minor. Ohio Stadium already was far too narrow for a qualifier even before the major renovations 10+ years ago. They have much stricter requirements than those for games like Real Madrid or friendlies.

Seems that teams from Columbus laying goose eggs recently. Lions hockey there this weekend. Will it happen again? I hope so.
