Cool news from Buckeyeland - wrestle offs

Did Pletcher move up to make room for Decatur? Did not look big at 133. Maybe he has been living at the curl bar but doesn't seem like a move that will benefit his podium placement.

I’m surprised he moved up as well especially now knowing Micic/Fix/Suriano are all taking Olympic redshirts, and Seth Gross has been heavily rumored to move up to 141.

He did look good against Eierman this past summer at the trials.

Very cool indeed. Kudos to Tan Tom.

Hayes not listed ... injured? Based on the lineup projection from those matchups, gotta think he'll be at 157 again this year.

tOSU had stated earlier that Hayes will wrestle in the Michigan State Open (Nov 2) at 149 (presumably along with Sasso). He has already certified at 149, so challenging at 141 does not seem out of the question, but if Pletcher stays there, maybe going up to 157 again makes more sense. Mattox and Cleary may have something to say about that, however.

no more aruba?

This bucknut lineup fascinates me, mostly because they have soo many young talents who I have never seen wrestle, but whose names I've been reading in recruiting cycles for so long. Caught some great glimpses of Sasso at Midlands last year, but the Decatur boys, Kinner, Karchla & Rocky Jordan I've never seen! Haven't seen Hoffman since WNO vs Beard. I gotta get my eyes on these lads, cuz we know Tan Tom is comin for us with them.

This is the first I've cared about Baseball this late into October (GO NATS!!!!), but that schedule even works out for me to watch on Thursday night. What kind of sports fan am I becoming in my old age that I'll be spending an October Thursday watching Buckeye *preseason wrestling and being glad that the freakin World Series has an off day? Oy to the vey!

Pletcher was cutting a bunch to make 141. If this were a TanTom decision, Pletcher would be at 133, and Hayes at 141.

Hayes won't be challenging Pletcher ever. If Decatur falters, Pletcher might make the decision to go down and allow Hayes to go 141. If Hayes doesn't win the 149 spot, he does own a tournament win over Cleary. TanTom does have a soft spot for Hayes, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

speaking of the buckeyes----one must wonder if Kerkvliet will follow MR. Snyder---

it is my understanding, that the deciding factor to going to OSU or PSU was Snyder as a workout partner.:)

I am sure he is pretty bummed. It would cost him a year of eligibility unless of course he could get the phone number of Surriano's attorney. Argue bait and switch.

Teasdale left 3 months later than this and retained all 5 years.

I don't think this is true. I believe he only has 4 years remaining.
When he withdrew from school last fall, PSU announced he would retain all 5 years unless he competed in the spring, which he didn't do.

Take this with a grain of salt as it is coming from Flo, but in frl this morning they all seem to believe that last year was being considered Teasdale's red shirt year and that he only has his 4 competition years left.

He's listed as a redshirt freshman on the roster and the FRL guys talked about it this morning. It's also been said by a few that he's not eligible to wrestle attached first semester.

Now, it could be a situation like Kemerer who is listed as a Senior because he doesn't officially have a 6th year yet. So maybe he just has to wait to apply in 4 years for his last year.

I would think his eligibility clock started once he enrolled as a fulltime student at PSU, has 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility.

Is that an established fact or merely supposition (albeit reasonable)? Just curious.

Take this for anything it’s worth (not much) but the rumor I had heard was that Snyder was in Kerk’s ear after he had committed to OK State and did a fair share of the recruiting, personally.

A separate, more credible source mentioned the day that he decommitted that he was near certain that he was tOSU’s to lose.

was an interesting day to be in Ohio, that’s for sure.

I've actually heard the same

Cleary vs Mattox like watching paint dry. No takedowns thru 3 periods. Maybe 2 shots all match between both guys.

now in overtime..now double overtime ugh let it end..Cleary with reversal and then rides Mattox out for win

I assume Hayes will be at this weight when season starts

Karchla vs Smith. Interested in this one..

Smith a good sized 165. Noticeably bigger. 2-1 Karchla after 1. I felt Smith had takedown early in first but they didn’t give it to him at the edge

2-2 after 2. Both guys shooting but neither can finish

Karchla wins 3-2. Smith in on a bunch of shots. Karchla has excellent defense
