Wrestle-off Rumors

That’s not always true.. sometimes bad seeding can put two ncaa champ caliber wrestlers in a match in the quarters or earlier.. which ends up screwing both.

For example, If Stevenson wrestles some limited schedule/inj and gets the 8 seed.. and Kerk has to face him in the quarters as the 1 seed.
That screws Kerk, though, since Gable is very likely to win anyway. That was my point.

true , but u never know what can happen.. no one probably expected Spencer to lose to Ramos.. suppose Ramos had the one seed and Spencer randomly gotten 8 seed due to inj/lack of matches etc.. or just fill in any name

Not happening. They will be 1-2 in the coaches poll after B10s. Also they will only face at B10s -- no dual -- so that will be the only loss of the year for one of them.

Reminder, Kyle Snyder got the 2 seed at nationals in his SO year when he wrestled 3 matches before B10s.

How do rumors get started? They're started by the jealous people. And they get mad seeing something they had and somebody else is holding. They tell me that temptation is very hard to resist. But these wicked women, ooh, they just persist. Maybe you think it's cute, but girl, I'm not impressed. I tell you one time only, with my business please don't mess. When you look at all these rumors, they’re surrounding me everyday. I just need some time, some time to getaway from… from all these rumors, I can't take it no more. My best friend said there's one out now about me and the girl next door.

Makes sense.. Cstar, using common sense, shouldn’t have gotten the 9th seed that year tho.

Carter went 0-2 DNP at B10s. His original seed (IIRC 7th) was valid. His re-seed dropped to 9 was BS and not supported by the seeding criteria. The seeding committee played games.

Neither are relevant to Kerk or Steveson except as a shot in the dark that isn't worth contemplating.

Um, does this have something to do with your penchant for White Claw?

I think in this case they didn't want to set a precedent that you didn't need to wrestle your conference tournament and still receive a high seed. In Gables situation, he'd wrestle his conference tournament fully.

Did you know AJ is doing commercials for White claw Brewing co.

Cael's priority is helping each wrestler reach his goal. The plan all along was to have Arron on a pitch count. The risk that he might lose his #1 seed at NCAAs was a small price to pay for his best chance at Olympic trials.

Brooks just last year..can probably find others going back but bottom line..Brooks didn't have RPI last year and they seeded Hidlay ahead of him. Like others have said a guy like Brooks, CStarr, Nolf, Bo, etc..it doesn't really matter where they seeded.

For guys like Bartlett, Van Ness, Kerkliviet this year..it certainly matters

Personally easier path if Kerk opposite Gable, Bartlett opposite Alirez/Mendez. Van Ness opposite Lovett/Henson..no RPI almost ensures you going to get stuck with a tougher matchup.

I trust our guys no doubt, but the poster who mentioned it has a point..at least get the 15 matches so you don't have to worry about it. Over 5 mth season shouldn't be that difficult
That would be a lousy example since the 1 and 2 seeds would still meet in the finals. Plus, it is NOT TRUE. Brooks was the #1 seed at 197 for the 2024 NCAAs.

Pat, I'm not trying to throw any shade on you--I am genuinely curious: what motivates you to share the things you do? You obviously have a "brand" established enough that people in the know are sending "sensitive" information to you to share without themselves bearing the brunt of doing the sharing directly. You have repeatedly stated you aren't a journalist, not in it for money, etc. Is it just the thrill of being the first to share info? Or do you have some other guiding philosophy? I firmly believe that if it wasn't you doing it, someone else probably would end up in the same role. I'm just curious what motivates you.
I really just love the sport of wrestling and making genuine connections and since I was younger loved the forum aspect of chatter; banter and buzz. I think wrestling is better when there’s hot topics to discuss!

A few items that I feel people need to know:

1. I am a wrestling fan who created my forum with the purpose of discussing wrestling coast to coast. This is not my job, it’s something I do for the love of the sport- for no compensation.

2. I have developed deep relationships with people I trust over the years and when someone I trust gives me what I believe is credible information, I put it out there- not to gas light or hurt anyone- but to be discussed. This is a place for discussion.

3. I am not a member of the media. I am an administrator for the free forum you enjoy. I pay for a ticket to get into NCAA’s and other events just like everyone else.

4. I am going to continue to talk about wrestling and the great people who make up the sport- some of the takes may not be popular, but they will be real and authentic. If I have a thought, I’m gonna share it.

5. I am not bound to an organization or “boss”, but somehow those who are have managed to put me on a pedestal when it benefits them AND also minimize me when it benefits them. I find that interesting. 😂

But all in all, just a way to stay involved in the sport I love and connected to many people I grew up with in the sport. If that makes sense!

Your last sentence ensured that he will be here shortly to explain and attempt to show why you're the nutjob and not him.. :)
He’s not a nut job at all, I explained why I deleted and had a great convo with Bartlett. Much respect. Not sure why you guys often come at me in here when I’m the leading troll against your opposition Iowa! Cmon man 😂

I like the dirt, love hearing stuff that other people hear even if it's not quite right.
We like giving everyone shit, when there isn't anything to discuss we eat our own.
Pat's not a paid Iowa hater, he's the worst kind he does it for free. -Tom Brands( maybe)

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I guess the reason I was asking is that I am also just a fan. But have also started “the journalism bit” (more so than you, though my reach is much less, and also without pay) because of my interest in the sport.

As a fan, I eat up any and all rumors and information out there eagerly. But as a journalist, I feel the pressures that many in the wrestling media do to not upset or misrepresent the people I’m covering. it’s such a small group. So it’s cool to understand where you’re coming from a bit more.

Thanks for explaining. My cousin Matt vouches for you, so that was enough for me, but I like what you said.

A month after that Rec Hall match in the NLO I still think Taylor had that winning takedown. The gap closed quickly and was inverted as time ticked away.

This is an excellent post and really should be pinned. What he's doing is not different than what we do here, there are plenty of guys on here with credible sources that occasionally get things wrong.

It's the fans (us) that lay more responsibility on him than he should be subject to as a guy who runs a forum. There have been plenty of guys on here the posted they think Blaze is going to PSU, Facundo is going 57, Levi 174, Levi calling his weight (last year), etc., etc. Heck, I can remember posting one summer that Cael & Co. were going to be alright with Suriano leaving before he did. It wasn't a 100% thing, but I heard it from someone that was close with the staff and I'm still not sure if it was entirely true or if the was a little rationalization as he knew what was coming. But it was a good data point to be discussed on the forum.

It's quite different from being a member of the press or having a platform that you charge people for wrestling news.

You guys probably already debated Kasak vs. Facundo but I I think that Kasak will win the job. Nothing against Facundo but Kasak is always getting better each match I swear and I’m not sure that I see/saw that with Facundo.
