Mild surprise, most folks had him going to Ohio State or Rutgers.

Guys on the Ohio Wrestling board who are pretty plugged in to tOSU said there probably weren't $$$ for Demas to land with Tan Tom, and that Demas wasn't a priority from a lineup perspective.

And guys on the Rutgers board (who may or may not have a clue, don't know) weren't aware that Rutgers was involved with Demas.

The Rutgers board is a wasteland of ignorance and cruise liners.

LOL about the cruise liners. But that board is not completely void of knowledge and intelligence. There are one or two guys who sometimes can offer tidbits of what is going on in the RU program.

To replace Ryan at 57? Or be there 65? Does an athlete red shirting count toward the 9.9 that year?
Tough to say. If he's going 157 he'd probably redshirt and come in the following year when Jake exits. Apparently White is still planning on heading to tOSU so if he in fact ends up there I'd imagine Carr at 157 is the plan

Something along the lines of
157 Carr
165 White
174 Romero

That's a very nice best case scenario! Any insight to my last question?

I have heard that Jake Ryan doesnt cost them any of the 9.9. Cant recall where I heard that, or from whom. He may have other academic scholarship - or he may be a walk-on. I dont know if wrestlers are allowed other scholarship? .... Just recall hearing that 157 has been a free weight class as per the 9.9.
take it for what its worth.

PSU employees get 75% tuition discount for their families -- and that does not count toward the scholarship cap since it's not athletics based. What's the rate for Ohio State employees?

I have no clue unfortunately. Just to elaborate on dar.of.emurs statement. Ryan is little to nothing on money because he's the son of a university employee I believe same applies to Smith and will eventually if not most likely apply to terry brands, Casey Cunningham, and the Sanderson kids

Just looked it up on tOSU HR site: 50% for one employee, 75% for two employees. Can Mrs Tom wrestle?

Don't know if Ryan's wife works there or not but it seems to be between 50-75% Benefit for Dependents, per link:

Ohio State HR

With Snyder, Tomasello, and Jordan coming off the books, they will have plenty of room for Carr and Rocky Jordan. Have to think they move on from White, but you never know.

you can get other scholarships. Do

Doesn't apply to Joe Smith-OSU doesn't have that type of program. We just get paid so much that we can afford tuition-NOT!

but, there are also other ways. I know OSU has had wrestlers strictly on academic scholarships, because they could get more money that way. But that was back in the old days, and not sure if the same rules still apply.

tOSU at minimum should give White a year to try and make it on tOSU campus. It would be extremely bad judgement of the program to give up on him this early, especially when they convinced him to attend Notre Dame in OH.

I'd also figure than Mr. Smith and Mr. Ryan are paid fairly handsomely and can afford tuition costs without much help.

with Demas' verbal, that leaves only 5 guys in the top 30 of Flo's Class of 2017 that have yet to verbal. They are:

#3 Daton Fix (OK, 125/133)
#5 Jacob Warner (IL, 197)
#6 Brady Berge (MN, 165)
#23 Kevin Vough (OH, 285)
#25 Trent Hillger (MI, 285)

I don't have the data in front of me to verify, but it seems as though that's a pretty high percentage of top prospects verballing a month before the early signing period.

Agree that it seems at a higher rate. Recruiting game is changing and decisions are being accelerated

That will be a fun time for PSU if managed properly. Realizing it is a decade + away and so much could and will change.

Keep in mind when college is free scholarships allocations mean nothing.....Not debating the notion, just pointing out the obvious.
