Yep. One poster responded to their " blood" quotes with that's a big accusation that deserves big evidence. Lol. It was like nothing was said. No. Nothing is worse than directly threatening someone's life. He needs to go. That's the end of it.
I think he really has displayed much better sportsmanship this year. He has few issues and is probably medicated to help, but the meds leave him sluggish. I like watching him compete and don't think he needs to be done. Maybe there are others options that can actually help the young man. Keep Terry away from him for starters.
Sorry, but that ship has sailed for me. He's had numerous chances and had been forgiven many many times. Take him into recovery now and maybe he has a chance in a few years to compete again...keep forgiving and forgetting and you have another Austin Scott.

I agree what is the standard we are making here for these young men. Desanto was representing iowa university at the national tournament and anything he did reflected on that university. What would have happened if any iowa employee would have said the same thing to the media. Fired maybe. Suspended definitely until an investigation was undertaken. Regardless Desanto is a loose canon and nothing the mat monkeys do will change this kid. They are just biding time until the lid blows off this thing.
You know Tom was keeping him out because he would have been disqualified if he came into the arena. Is the ncaa covering this shit up why haven't we heard anything about it.
It's funny to listen to the announcers about how honorable wrestlers are then to see some of the antics of the wrestlers and now to hear this about DeSantos.
Some of these antics I saw working in prison and heard the exact thing said to that women. We dealt with them and it wasn't a slap on the wrist as I'm sure this kid will get.

I'm not sure what world you live in that you're expecting a detailed blow-by-blow of the incident from an official NCAA source. That never happens in these cases, especially not in 24 hours.

I fully agree. There is nothing out there as far as a legitimate source as to what he said. I'd say a little patience is in order.
In almost all discipline cases, a person gets suspended pending an investigation. That investigation can take whatever time is necessary to collect all the facts and then determine the consequences, if any. nitlion said it well above. Imo, there's a rush to judgment that is unfair to both the young man and the process. Too many opinions without knowing all the facts. Whatever happens will happen in due time.
After watching the video.........it doesn't appear that Austin talked anywhere near long enough to say the full sentence he is alleged to have said. Something is amiss.
Thanks for the link! After carefully analyzing it frame by frame in forward and reverse I have no insight to offer other than I can say without a doubt that he won 10-6 and did not throw his head gear.
Not only that, but the female kept walking in the same direction. If someone said something to the effect that they would kill me, I'd stop and give them a lot of space right away. I'm guessing that he said something rude, but nothing that could be construed as a direct threat.
I don’t know exactly what Desanto said/did at this point. I do know Desanto’s actions resulted in Brands pulling him from the podium and the team championship picture. Desanto also had to issue an immediate apology. The steps taken by Brands seem to suggest Desanto did something fairly offensive.
It could also be possible Desanto had a minor offense. Brands sensed Desanto was becoming unhinged and removed him in order to avoid losing costly team points.
I feel it’s more likely the former scenario rather than the latter in this case.

If it were a minor offense, no way Brands creates a big distraction and program black eye right before their first team title in a decade. It would’ve been one of those “the team will handle this internally“ types of situations. By releasing that statement at the time they did, Brands knew he had to get out in front of something that wasn’t just minor.
If the details we’ve heard are true, i’d at minimum make him redshirt/suspension in 2022... to just out right make him move on. I believe in 2nd chances, but Desanto is way past #2.
The University of Iowa administration will need to evaluate either way. This isn’t getting buried.
At a minimum the NCAA should take away his points from the tournament.

The conversation that needs to happen is between Tom and Terry. I agree that Terry is just out of control and the fact that Tom puts up with it is the problem at Iowa ... also the fact that the referees put up with it.
