DOC B coming - Snacks gets #2 seed

The lights go out in the middle of the Aguilar-Howard match. I mean, dark. Immediately, enough people in the stands fire up their cell phone flash lights, and it was bright enough that they wrestlers stepped back to center, ready to go. It got bright. Fortunately, they didn't have to wrestle like that, as the lights came back on shortly after that. Amazing how bright it got.

Indeed.

Can Gable S. beat either one of these guys?
Has Gable wrestled either one?

Yes, Gable Steveson can beat them both. As CMT pointed out, he is on another level. If we were wagering on the next 4-time NCAA champion, my money is on Steveson.

That's no disrespect to Cenzo or Hall. Tougher rows to hoe. Same goes for Yianni, Daton, Spencer, et alia. With the exception of Kyle Snyder (the GRADUATING Kyle Snyder), I think Steveson could run the table at NCAA's this year.

We may one day speak his name in the same sentence as Bruce Baumgartner. It's not all that far-fetched. Gable is an elite talent.

is this match foreshadowing to the stoll vs NN match?

Schultz took one leg attack. Schultz scored off seths action. Seth in close multiple times just cant keep the leg or suck it in. Then when in the upper body ties hes timid to go for it because of the other guys prowess.

more action in that hvy match then many of the lighter matches.

heres the match for those with flo https://www.flowrestling.org/video/6075027

You’re either on to something or on something. Nothing wrong with the route either Nevils kid went, but there’s something to be said about the guys who train and compete in the international styles outside of the folkstyle season. Not saying Nick and Seth don’t train free or greco, you just don’t see them entering the tournaments like Stoll and Schultz.

I think a greco background pays even more dividends at HWT than other weight classes.

Not worried about Seth as Schultz didn't do much. Seth was the aggressor the whole match and Schultz got his takedown off a slip by Seth.

Yeah, in Greco, that wouldn't have even been 2. But it seemed there was a strength discrepancy between the two. Couldn't believe Nevills didn't even try to get 2 with the position he achieved late, but he must've sensed danger.

I thought Schultz was the aggressor in the match. He may not have attempted leg attacks, but he was the one moving forward and engaging. Seth had no answer.

That was a really close match. I think that if Seth cleans up his finishes, he wins if they meet again. I spoke to him briefly after the finals and he was pretty upbeat. He knew he blew it on that TD where he slipped. He said Schultz also had some sweat that contributed to why he slipped. I'm looking forward to seeing him win his 4th state title in March. Nobody in CA is going to beat him.

BTW, the people in Clovis are awesome. The whole town has a mid West like atmosphere. Seth and his family are very fortunate to be living there.

Gable's upside is stupid high. I agree, four time champ is, as we all know, very tough to accomplish, but it's well within his reach. When we saw him dismantle Jordan Wood at the 2015 WNO event as a somewhat doughy high school sophomore, we knew we looking at a prodigious talent. I just wish he would have come to Penn State - as good as Seth Nevills is and will be.
