Does anyone know the rules for 5th year seniors for example? Are they guaranteed a scholarship, or can Franklin and PSU tell them to move on? i'm just wondering since there has to be some attrition in the off season to get to the 85 man limit. What if a 5th year SR doesn't want to leave but Franklin does?

It's a 4-year scholarship with no guarantee of graduation. If they aren't a contributor and haven't graduated in 4 years, including at least 3 summers then they will most likely have to do what most students do...transfer or get a loan.

But keep in mind PSU does as good a job as anybody in the country of keeping them on track so they graduate in 4 years or less. With the summer courses, most majors should be done at least by fall of senior year.

As is already noted, they're generally only getting a 5th year scholarship if they're a starter or a very important 2nd team player.
