Don't shoot the messenger.

Any chance this whole mess has to do with the PSU coaches not being "MMA" guys? Nick wants to train MMA and wrestling and our coaches are not down with that?
Except Cael is friends with a bunch of MMA guys and has expressed his interest in it - even visiting guys like Couture and Wanderlei Silva in their gyms

Will somebody please cross-reference all the cutesy nicknames. Your roster doesn't list them for some reason.
We'll get on that Jimmy Jam Jammy Slam.

This from a guy who reveres a coach with the name "J" and who is affectionately referred to as "JRob".

That seems like a bad idea. I wouldn't blame Penn State fans for preferring their duo, but Hidlay is # 1 at 170 to Wittlake's # 1 at 182, while Cassiopi is #3 to Nevills' #2. Preferring one duo over the other isn't ridiculous, and spotting someone 10 points seems foolish.

Iowa fans during recruiting season: "Our recruits are better than yours."

Iowa fans in late March of every year: "Of course Cael won another title ... he gets all the best recruits."

The two reasons for this possible transfer I keep seeing are
MMA
Handling of the injury..

I can't see how either has any merit.
Ed Ruth and Phil Davis seem to be doing ok with their MMA careers... not sure why Nick would feel staying at PSU would hinder that future.
and
How was the injury handled poorly? I don't know what could have been done differently.. Cael stopped the match he was hurt in despite Nick trying to continue and then they gave him every shot to get back for the Nationals.. Are Nick and his dad upset they did NOT let him go at nationals? I guess that would be an explanation as to being upset on how the injury was handled..

In their defense here, I think they have a decent program and they get a pretty large crowd. They're also probably in the top 6-7 in the B1G. It's just that with PSU, OSU, Iowa, and UM, and NE they won't be higher than 6th in most years. I'm not knocking their program.

Are you referencing attendance in the bolded part, or team performance?

Of B1G teams, RU finished 9th at Nationals, ahead of Indiana, Maryland, MSU, Northwestern, and Purdue. Without Ashnault, they would have been very close to the bottom.

It would seem they are getting better, though, and I welcome that.

EDIT: Should have mentioned Theobold, too.

Exactly. The only way the handling of the injury can be a factor is if Suriano wanted to wrestle and was not allowed to by Cael or PSU Doctor. It can't be that Suriano is mad because Cael made him weigh in at B1G's, everyone one of these guys wants to compete, even if he only had a 1% chance of being ready for NCAA's, he would take that chance.

It's not ALL graduate transfers.

Dave Rella transfered from PSU to tOSU and didn't lose anything.

Rella transferred prior to the rule change. He didn't lose a year of eligibility however he could not get any scholarship money at tOSU.[/QUOTE

state of journalism these days is not good. #seperatingfactfromfictionHARD

I know this isn't football, but man it sucks not having many reporters. Imagine McSorley rumor to transfer Lasting 2 months without info, ain't happening

Last month: "Selfish Carl is recruiting over his recruits."

This week: "I really, really hope T&T can add RBY and Gavin to go along with Lee and Mejia!"

Jsyk.. I've been trailing this report long before it became a 22-page thread.

I've reached out to both camps and have yet to get a response from either side. Would love to confirm/deny it, just no one is outright doing that for me yet. I have learned enough in my digging around the past few weeks, tho, to know that there is something to this, a reason why this thread is still ongoing. I don't think we'll hear much more unless he does leave, which, yes, is being dangled out there as a real possibility

Wish we could find out what the displeasure is about.. I doubt we ever will but might make the whole thing more understandable..

Nick's Dad is pissed that this thread has still not reached the Grothus page record yet, so he's pulling Nick out and heading to Rutgers.;)
This is at least as good as any of these other theories.

Well this page isn't dead yet and doesn't appear to be slowing down. Basically I just wanted to add 1 more post to do my part.:)

This was posted on the Rutgers site a few minutes ago by their supposed "insider":

"As Bobby said on the RT, NS has been on campus and needs a release from Cael to be eligible next year. Hopefully that happens."

From what I've read here that information is wrong, correct? Even if Cael did grant a release, Suriano cannot wrestle unless the B1G gives a waiver.

Am curious what is going on behind the scenes. Is Rutgers breaking the rules by tampering and is Cael going to let it go?

As a former grad student at Rutgers, this seems like the standard level of cluelessness there.

El Jefe's track record is pretty sketchy (Hall's redshirt), so I'm thinking he's gone.

Ohio St. Buckeyes- your 2018 National Champions.

Also, the dual streak ends. Oh well. Good chance to be back on top in 18-19.

Suriano scores 0 points in his PSU career. Who could have ever predicted that?

If all is true, I'm excited to see who Cael has been in talks with to replace Nick. Ok maybe not but surely there is some stud out there that wanted to go to PSU but was blocked by Nick already being there. A spot may just very well be opening up for someone...

Jump off of many bridges ?

Let's bookmark this post, eh ?

You boys having phun yet?
Having a Blast! Right now, we are the most fortunate fanbase out there...in any sport out there. So yes, FUN FUN FUN. I guess you're trying to poke fun at some possible misfortune. I don't look at it as misfortune. Cael was 159-0. He didn't accomplish that by sitting around and accepting things good or bad. If this is all true, Cael is working on something. Book it..
