Drew Allar not getting much time in the pocket tonight

But here is a pretty darn good run

We'll see if this kid actually ends up coming. But wherever he ends up, I am sorry to say that he looks super slow in every piece of film I have seen. Couple that with a wonky scheme and poor line, and it's questionable whether he would be a great fit.

We’ve won with worse based on the mcsorley thread.

These boards never cease to amaze me. I know, they are message boards and everyone has their thoughts to share.
But, @Obliviax makes a simple post showing a committed recruit and immediately snarky comments about coaching staff and the player himself.
Only posted a few times since the board split, and this is why. I just shake my head and ask “why?”.

Fans are frustrated and looking for any and every outlet to vent. This one was especially ridiculous, I’ll admit.

Allar is a player, good to see he’s able and willing to pick up some yards with his legs.

Does St. Ed's recruit? Medina lost 41-6. This is kind of like what happens to my high school back in PA - they go unbeaten in the regular season or close to it somewhat frequently, then usually get beaten badly when they get to the state level. They get a few D1 players now and then, though nobody rated as high as Allar. I wouldn't make too many judgments off of this - one player can only do so much, even a special one.

I hate the fact that private schools are integrated into state playoffs. Let them have their own championship series. There is no comparison between a defined school district and open enrollment that extends far beyond the boundaries a school ordinarily has. It is complete crap.

Stupidest comment I’ve seen all week. You realize he’s 6’-5” 220/230 lbs. He moves around damn good for his size. He plays in empty backfield sets. DL and LB’s get to tee off every play. No RB’s to pick up the blitz or threat a run the ball. Rivals has him as a 5* and you don’t think he’d be a good fit? Id say your football IQ is rather low.

Yes. St Ed recruits. Last night I saw CA playoffs on TV. All Catholic schools

Another stellar post from a couch potato. Kid is one of best qb psu ever recruited

Big strong kid with pocket awareness and can move a bit like Roethlisberger
I'm happy we seem to have him the the PA kid who is an athlete developing at QB for the near future. Small pieces do matter....After the hype of this season's OL, I'd be surprised if Franklin doesn't focus on put the pedal down and leave it there on the players...as well as the players themselves, the ones that missed opportunities (Walker), ones can redeem themselves (the other OT), and those that have time to just get to work on a constant basis.

I am told he is up to 6 6 and 235. I also believe he will be on campus in January as an early enrollee. I think big Ben is a good comparison. When you watch a lot of him he is very good in the pocket, and is hard to bring down

I see Kirtland D-5 Ohio won again, now 53 straight wins .The longest winning streak in the country I will be watching HC. Tiger LaVerde and his team today.

Does St. Ed's recruit?

Is that a serious question?

Yes, St. Ed's recruits.

Sad for Allar and team they lost but good for PSU. Now he stays healthy and can start prepping for our offense. Is it allowed for coaches to give him our playbook and start working with him? What about nutrition and training help? Can that start after commitment day?

Christian Hackenberg.

Uh yeah no. 1 - CH was basically a statue. 2 - CH never showed the kind of accuracy Allar has shown. 3 - CH could not like at all throw on the run. 4 - CH had a far superior velocity.

They're only comparable as two tall white guys.

Forgive my skepticism, but I’ll trust the coaching staff’s experience to evaluate his talent more than I’ll trust your lack of experience.

Fortunately MY offensive scheme really doesn't require the QB to run. Allar is damn near perfect for MY offensive.

CH had no pocket awareness. Zero. Zilch. None.

Yet Hack broke all kinds of PSU passing records.
Passing records are meaningless to me theses days. For one, we played less games back in the day, two, run games and solid defense were noble 10-15 years ago. Now football is just spread and pass 7 on 7. Clifford will break traces records, trace broke hackenbergs, hack started for 3 years, on and on it goes.

Maybe for your average HS DL. Most DL in college are going to have 40-50# on the the HS DL and will be a hell of a lot stronger. I do like the kid, I think MY will be able to do great things with the kid.

Good to know all of Trace's passing records are now meaningless.

Which will be shattered by Clifford. Notice a pattern? 3 year qbs, throwing the ball all over, penn state teams of old wouldn't dare not run the ball on 3rd and short.
I’m not saying that I don’t value a rushing game. However, today’s game is nothing like the game “of old”. Not at PSU or anywhere else.

Precisely my point which is why I'm not impressed with hackenebergs "record breaking stats"
