Only 6 to go to tie the Cowboys streak of 76 set between 1937-51.

Of course, back then teams were worn out just trying to even get through Indian Country to Stillwater, so they were gassed before even getting on the mats.

The typical road trip to Stilly back then:

Oky St alumni will want DT to get an early season match with PSU to try too break the streak. I don't see the PSU train derailing for a while!

Believe part of the streak was when Okie State was still "Oklahoma A&M"....

A lot of 125 pounders didn't make it through dysentery.

Should be 71 soon then they need six next year.🤞
If PSU staff mimics next year's schedule similar to the most recent years, potential #77 will either occur during Journeyman Duals or early/mid January in early Big Ten action.

Hoping the AD can pull a few strings and schedules potential #77 as a home meet.

Who WAS Oklahoma State wrestling back then anyway?

That's back when it was a long train ride to Stillwater.
In fairness, getting to Stillwater back then was probably easier than getting to State College.

If memory serves me right, well, let's say you're coming from Philly. I think it would be, take the Pennsylvania Railroad's old Northern Central route to Williamsport , then the Bald Eagle line to near bellefonte, after that I'm not sure. Lol Bob Knight wasn't too far off when he said Penn State was a "GD camping trip."

Edit: looks like there was a branch line to Lemont. I assume that had some passenger service but probably nothing special

Just for clarification purposes:

Jason Bryant writes:
"I've since written (multiple times, I believe) what the record is in NWCA poll releases. The "Division I" record is 76 (broken in 1951).

The NCAA record is 77 (St. Cloud State, broken in 2022 one match after they set a new record).

Since Oklahoma State's 76 was in an era prior to Divisions, I call that "major college" since it's a current Division I institution in an era that pre-dated even the college division.

The modern era record would be 70.

The all-time "D1" record is 76.

The NCAA record is 77.

Here's the working list (since that article was written in the midst of Grand View's win streak)

There'll be no need for clarification in a few years when our streak goes into triple digits 😎

the longest win streak in college sports is the Trinity College squash team. 252 consecutive victories, Ended in 2012. They also had 13 consecutive national titles, and their coach (who I knew in high school as a student) is one of the winningest coach in college 507w-29l

Just imagine if Tom Ryan’s tOSU team had to travel like that to get to PSU…Steiber would have lost to Zain by TF…even with Average officials!
